    Default High resolution texture pack for EBII

    Not sure if this is even possible but it seemed like something worth suggesting. As I'm sure most of you are aware there are a number of mods out that replace the textures of certain games with ones that have a far greater level of detail. I was wondering, seeing as you are doing most of the texture work from scratch, whether or not such a thing could be released as an optional extra for EB II. This would allow those who have a system capable of handling the extra load a greater level of detail on unit skins etc. I would personally love the option. What do you think?

    As far as I know all those texture packs relating to M2TW are reskins of sky, ground and water textures et al.

    In so far as modding units, the textures can be great quality with no effect on performance if you stick to the standard texture size (1024x1024). The vanilla ones look pretty rubbish as they try to fit in loads of bits on that size texture, whereas current mods have a smaller amount of parts (ie torsos, faces, shields), but larger and higher quality.

    The only way you'd increase the quality is to increase the texture size and thus make the textures bigger. This would be basically like skinning all their bespoke units from scratch though. I doubt anyone would undertake such a task for a submod! Plus it increase the load on your computer massively, and probably isn't worth it.

    Some units were created using 2048 textures and will probably be released as a side mod or a feature in the installer.

    Also other textures, such as blood and dirt texture are also of high resolution compared to vanilla (2048*1024 compared to 512*256), and where probably the same will be done.

    Its been 6 years since vanilla... I think higher requirements are ok.

    HD graphics are nice, but at good gameplay is more what I care for. Not that I'm against good graphics though...

    I'm a gameplay man as well, but if the EB team have been using high resolution textures in some of their renders I just thought it couldn't hurt to have the option to use them in-game if you have a computer capable of handling the extra load. After all, there is nothing wrong with a few pretty units eh?

    I think it should be released as a submod at the same time as the main mod because while i know my pc could handle a lot i'd rather everyone could run it and enjoy the mod.

    The current textures look really good though, regardless of HD. If someone wants to do this, just get a few skinners after the mod comes out and increase their resolution. I don't think the team needs to bother remaking everything they've already done and take twice as long as to release.

    Textures, HD quality and all that stuff.... pfff... Please! Let the devs finish the freaking mod so that you dudes have something to "submod" on!
    The 1.0 version needs to be out for all to enjoy, and normal quality textures (as original Med2 ones) are ok, because EB is not about good looking units! EB is about various changes to the gameplay mechanics that immerse the player into a realistic impression of the world of the antiques! After everybody is tired of experiencing those new characteristics of the mod, the time is ripe to start on improving the "looks" of the mod!
    Just stop talking about submods and add-ons and numerous fan request when you don't even have the Gaza campaign out to play it!
