I'm just asking for the reasons why they are so loved in our community.

Donīt know why. But there are only few people wanting them as a faction, and I saw once a small mod adding Israel as a faction to the vanilla game.

As an old player of Medieval1 I found it boring that there were no emergent factions in Rome:TW. The Jews would have been a good candidate to bring unrest into the Levant (similar to Switzerland and Burgundy in MTW).

There were emergent factions in MTW? I painted the whole map black as HRE, but never encountered an emergent faction, but only played early campaign... Only encountered re-emerging factions after wiping out the French and English and found this to be a great and also very realistic feature.

In MTW, sometimes the faction would die off or get killed, then there would be a claimant or something like that spawns and they get a couple provinces

Well the emergent factions Burgundy and Swiss only appeared after a certain date e.g. 1350 and 1290 or something like that. Plus there had to be large unrest / low public order. Either you have conquered the world to quick or your people were to happy. And when playing HRE these areas are your core territories so they should be well governed. Have seen them emerging mostly when AI factions controlled the regions as unlike you I preferred the Byzantines.

in Assyria TW time, they are invaded and stripped of much their land

in NETW time, the Davidic dynasty are at the brink of destruction

If somebody would suggest a Kipchak-faction or Bolgars for instance for medieval total war I bet nobody would even look at it, even though they had a huge influence on the steppes in Central-Asia, Caucasus, Russia, Eastern Europe, Egypt, etc.. But nobody gives a damn..

I get annoyed when I see people pushing for Jewish factions in mods. But I'm all for historical accuracy.

There's no archaeological evidence for any Kingdom of Isreal/Judah being anymore than a minor buffer zone for the powerhouses of their day. The Phoenicians have more of a shout for a faction, had much more influence between 1200-600 BCE.

As for the Roman period, that region was a poor backwater that revolted but never lasted as a power.

I think the main drive for this madness is because, unbelievably, the Jews managed to survive, unlike so many of the other peoples around.

I would hardly call King David's empire a mere "buffer state"; it certainly couldn't match Egypt, but it was powerful enough.

Even with the Kingdom of Israel (Northern 10 tribes, as opposed to Judah and Benjamin, who were in the kingdom of Judah to the south) was pretty big - Samaria was the 5th / 6th biggest city in the area at the time. Of course, this didn't stop it getting crushed

Becuase the Bible paints describes the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah in great detail, the other much bigger factions lacks the same amount of cover in contemporary litterature so it is much easier to live oneself into the role of playing one of those kingdoms, judaism being a prelude to Christianity also makes it easier to identify with such a faction.

Plus it's cool to follow the instructions of the books of Moses litterally and annihilate the pagans, smash their idols, put an end to their evil practices of child sacrifice etc. Also it gives the player a chance to go back in time and make the jews pick the right road instead of falling to greed and murdering Christ etc...
