In my day it was just Kaits and Fred yelling at each other about...everything, really.
Now Kaits doesn't even post.

Ah, Kaits.. no wait I never gotten on well with Kaits. Still he was one of us in those times before the dead times.
Who has been here long enough to remember when I left for a year and Dan had thought I was an alt account of some pervert scandal on the site(because the guy had been discovered right around the time I left)?

EliteWarman or whatever his name was, you mean?
Ha no there was another guy who was caught posing as someone else while soliciting pictures from other members.
And Perry you could still be that person for all we know.
I remember there was talk about sad video games here in the past; I think it was Verdun or that other WW1 one?
Anyways, here's a sad/painful rpg.

It's set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and you, Brad, find a baby that may just be the last woman on earth.
I think that pretty much explains the entire plot and how ed up it can be. There's a lot of dark humor in it too.

when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.
On another note, our recent debate + the imminent release of CK2's "Horse Lords" expansion has prompted me to do some research on the Mongols, and I found this series of podcasts by Hardcore History's Dan Carlin, The Wrath of the Khans.
And yes, that is a five-part podcast which is total probably 9-10 hours in length.
I'm near the end of the first part and I'm absolutely mesmerized right now. I'd highly recommend it to any of you who have an interest.

Watch Marco Polo on Netflix, that show's the . Its like a Jackie Chan movie with Marco Polo and Mongols.
When you have a chance, the five links are in my post, maybe this weekend or something you could listen to one or marathon all five as I'm doing now

"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

Anything with Hundred Eyes in it was pure gold. I also find it funny how they made all the Asians like Kung Fu experts but Marco Polo is a bit of a .
My favorite podcast is definitely History of Byzantium
Feel free to spread that around too, I think more people need to listen to it
Also good is History of Iran podcast.
I did find a podcast about the Normans (yeah, pretty specific), but the guy was.. hard to listen to..

Has anyone here played this, Expeditions: Conquistador?

It's pretty interesting, I just bought it like 2 days ago.
It's a CRPG, isometric; indie, so quality can be excusable.
But the historical setting is great, and so far, it seems to be completely realistic - no magic or anything.
You're the child of a lesser nobleman from Spain, and the king permits you, because of your father's influence, to lead a small band of adventurers to the New World.
You stop in Hispaniola first, and then later to Mexico, beating Cortes to the punchline.
I can't confirm since I'm only a few bits into it so far (still doing menial tasks for the Governor of Hispaniola), but the game's roleplaying elements seem to very much play off of the historical methods of Cortes and other Spaniards - divide and conquer, mostly.
You can ally with one tribe against another, you can use diplomacy, you can just shoot first, etc.
The combat, I'd compare to Fire Emblem.
