That's an odd little thing. It looks as if it might be amphibious?

I do believe you are right.

In a couple of weeks I'll be in a place where vehicles like that drive around and have mock battles

Sounds like fun to me, where's that? And will you be taking your rocket-powered gap-jumping Fiat 2000 to impress them with?

I was waiting for TRK to confrim my guess. It seems a tad cheeky to do otherwise.

    Correct.

The M29 Weasel looks amphibious but it isn't. The M29C Weasel is amphibious.

My sources are somewhat contradictory. Some say the M29 wasn't amphibious, the M29C is. Others say the M29 was amphibious but not very good, the M29C is an improved amphibious variant. Not sure what's correct so no info.

It does look amphibious though. Or maybe it's just the DUKW in the background making me think that.

Yes, but I wouldn't want to drive it through stormy waters. Your picture is a 1915 Sizaire-Berwick Wind Wagon btw. I considered posting it in the old thread once but didn't because I had just posted another British WWI armored car, The Seabrook armored car.
The "Wind Wagon" was a 1915 Admiralty experiment. R.N.A.S. squadrons were being withdrawn from the Western Front and sent to Africa and the Near East, where the terrain wasn't suited to conventional cars. Only one was made, and it was only tested in England.

It certainly is. I didn't think that would take you long, I just love it though.

An Admiralty experiment, it was intended for the desert where convential vehicles didn't fare well. Only one was ever made though and it never left England. (Edit; Just noticed that I repeated your quote hehe)
Why the Admiralty were concerning themselves with desert warfare, I have no idea.

(An M29 would be useful around here for popping along the coast or across the bay to Trieste or Venice. I'd have a BAR or something on the front though, for getting those pesky day-trippers out of my way.)

What exactly they want to do by strapping an airplane engine on a car?
    Making it faster?

And well, the original version of the Weasel got a recoilless rifle on it.
That's sort of like a rocket launcher.
    75mm gun version also available.

I think so. Seems to be a vessel like the "Schienenzeppelin" .

I think the idea was that it would be mobile in terrain (e.g. sand) where ordinary wheeled vehicles would get stuck. Don't take my word for it though
