Lol, Rheinlander, they were not some random Muslims, they were the second-largest Muslim empire ever, and they were the most powerful superpower of the 8th and 9th century (the vast empires of Heraclian and the Tang dynasties being defeated). They don't have any connections with suicides either.

Formerly Ceylon province of Empire of India, it was the place described in the Hindu epic Ramayana as 'Lanka' which gave it's modern name. It was also a trading post for the Chinese during Ming Dynasty and even Han and Tang Dynasties. At first a Hindu state, it later converted to Buddhism and now there is ongoing conflict between Buddhist Sinhala and the Tamils. It was colonized by Dutch and later fell to the British.

@Rheinlander: Nope, that's not possible. The Abbasid 'culture' had faded well by 1200s, and neither culture nor religion connects them to suicides at all. It is like saying that ancient Germanic barbarian tribes are connected with today's Germans.

Kingdom of Georgia

Hellenized kingdom north of Armenia. Their mountain location helped them survive for a long time - they only fell to the Roman Empire twice (once under Trajan and again under Heraclius). They were known as Colchis back in the ancient era. They are another victim of those Turkish barbarians today (alongside Armenia), those genociding murderers.

Golden Ambrosian Republic

The Golden Ambrosian Republic (Italian: Aurea Repubblica Ambrosiana; 1447–1450) was a short-lived government founded in Milan by members of the University of Pavia with popular support. With the aid of Francesco Sforza they held out against the forces of Venice, but after a betrayal Sforza defected and captured Milan to become Duke himself, abolishing the Republic. Not a well know nation yet Wikipedia did notice it.

The Hanseatic League

A trade coaliation of northern German city-states, lead by Lubeck. They had high amount of influence in the Baltic sea through middle ages, often forcing other countries to cease conflicts to prevent damage to trading. They suffered a severe blow when the in-debted Gustav Vasa backstabbed them while they were fighting the Dutch.

Kingdom of Mutapa

It was a kingdom originating from 15th century, and held contacts with Portuguese once they arrived. It was one of the few kingdoms who could talk with the Portuguese (or any Europeans for that matter) on equal terms...but not for long. Their power faded quickly. Their kingdom now lies in Greater Zimbabwe, or simply on the territory of modern Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

United Kingdoms of Great Britain.

Once the biggest Empire on the Earth, have a bunch of Dominion. Today unfortunately reduced to its core land. Yet the Empire still remain a Major power on the surface of the Earth. Oh and they have impressive, colorful Royal Guards. Also the Royal's house just have the heir.

Imperial Japan

The only power in the world, alongside the German Empire back in 1918, able to challenge and defeat the Royal Navy on equal terms. They were a vast empire, stretching from Manchuria to Java and deathly close to Australia, though they lacked the infrastructure to support so many territories in such a short time. The last days of the Empire were also the last days of heroic Samurai spirit, with soldiers dying in a heroic last stand overall. After 1947, Japan is the only country in the world that remains an 'Empire' with an 'Emperor' on the throne.

A series of pacific islands populated by micronesians and colonized by british. Kiribati was part of the British empire between 19th and 20th centuries and acted as a ground for pacific war battles and nuclear weapon tests. It started becoming independent in 70s.

Deccan sultanate

One of the most destructive invaders of India. They, along with the Delhi Sultunate that invaders established in northern India early on, completely ransacked the Hindu temples and cities, looted monasteries and burned down places of culture, and force-converted a lot of people in the area to Islam. At first, they even aimed at completely rooting out the classical Indian culture and learning (which was advanced in many fields, like China and what remained of Rome) and place a new Islamic population. But slowly the pressure increased from all sides since they were isolated in the center of lots of Hindu kingdoms. They were about to fall but by then, Mongol invaders who conquered Delhi Sultanate (otherwise known as Mughals) had began dominating north India, and after some time the Deccan Sultans were annexed. Their location lies in present-day Maharashtra and some parts of Karnataka, the states of India today.

Kingdom of Axum.

It was one of the precursors to the modern Ethiopian state. It became a Christian state when king Ezana converted. He destroyed the Kushite kingdom, and even expanded into modern day Yemen. The kingdom began to use "Ethiopia" as early as the fourth century. It was also the alleged resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, due to Ethiopia's Jewish heritage.

Duchy of Anhalt

A duchy in the middle of the German Empire (Deutsches Kaiserreich) and North German Federation (Norddeutscher Bund) existing from 1863-1918. In 1863 Anhalt-Köthen and Anhalt-Bernburg merged with Anhalt-Dessau to an united Anhalt duchy

Not a real state at any given time, Germania was simply a region of Europe in the ancient times, it was cold and harsh land, inhabited mostly by Germanic tribes. These Germanic tribes fought numerous wars against first the Celts of Gaul and eastern Europe, and then the Roman empire. When the Romans collapsed to their internal conflicts, the pressured tribes of Germania migrated to the now defenseless southern Europe and established their own kingdoms over the former Roman citizens. This gave birth to many of the modern states of Europe, including France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain.
