Welcome back!
Ohboyherewego.
Okay, here's the deal. I am
really worried about this battle. Not only do I have inferior men, but I start on lower ground, and I have to attack with 3 batteries of Howitzers staring down my throat.
Lovely day for some Cavalry hugs, no?
I think so.
We overtake the guns and press on, snagging our line on a Regiment of Prussian Infantry. Oh boy, two for one!
Our Hussars are getting overwhelmed, but with every dead Prussian, two Russian lives are saved.
The Prussians decide to help, deciding that the lives of their own men aren't worth as much as that of a Russian horseman. It's flattering but untrue.
Luckily, though we lost over 100 horsemen, we destroyed 7 howitzers and routed the other 3. We were REALLY lucky here.
Deciding that we need to get a move on, our Light Brigade, at double-and-a-half ranks, advances. Twelve-hundred men step off and head for the enemy line.
Aaaaand they've already gotten another battery up.
To the north, our newly-recruited Dragoon Brigade awaits, concealed behind a low ridge and ready to spring forth onto the Prussian left.
To the south, our brigade of Uhlans and Cossacks awaits, ready to have the same effect on the enemy's right.
We finally deploy some of the very few guns we have, using them to bombard the exposed enemy left flank. High ground isn't always a good thing for them...
Initial results? Promising.
Now, as our Lights approach their destination, we order the rest of our Battalions forward.
We run them the rest of the way, hoping to provoke a Prussian response.
It works.
Our thin green line opens up, getting off the first shots of the battle.
Our volleys continue pouring out. The Prussians scramble about in a fury, losing men left and right, attempting to get into battle lines.
However, eventually, the Prussians find their shot-up balls and put on their game face. Their expert Light Infantry - Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 18 "Rochenau" - fires back, cutting down 37 of our Jägers with a single volley.
As you can see it was quite bloody.
As more and more Prussian infantry take position and begin firing back, Prussian Dragoons make a sudden charge on our line.
However, it is beaten back. Here's an aerial view, just so you can see how disorganized the Prussian line is.
Our regiments were less than 50 feet apart here. It was crazy.
Just as it appears that our lights will be overwhelmed, two Regiments of Infantry arrive on their left, extending their line and providing supporting volleys.
Meanwhile our lancers come storming over the crest of the ridge, plowing into the Prussian right....
...and our Dragoons into their left.
The Lancers and one of the two Dragoon regiments are routed, but their job is done - they shock and demoralize the Prussians and allow our Infantry to take up positions and bring up reserves. However, we decide to launch one last charge at their rear just for
and giggles.
A Russian man is best in melee. Ura, men!
Two of our Regiments, in Attack column, open fire into a Prussian Line Regiment.
And a lot of these I've forgotten the story to, so just enjoy some epic battle scenes.
By now we've encircled them for the most part and are just shooting the
out of them. Victory is at hand!
"Ah'm comin home mawma!"
Oh btw we won.
Bloodiest battle yet - 10,000 casualties! And we lost LESS men!
But we still have
this army to deal with.
Yeah, we're checking you out, deal with it
.
Stay tuned!
