when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.

Chapter 1 - Waking the Demon

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Welcome, one and all! I hope you enjoy this campaign. Now, let's get down to business, shall we?

We start the campaign with our forces split up across hundreds of miles of unforgiving territory. Our expeditionary force, under the honorable and revered General Kutuzov, is forcing its way through rough, unforgiving, mountainous terrain, while a force under Von Benningsen is assembling outside of Lemberg, several hundred miles to the Northeast. Before we have a chance of aiding our Austrian allies, we'll have to mass our forces.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Further to the North, just outside Minsk, we have a third force, a couple of Regiments that will be marching south along our crumbling road network to join our forces. We're hoping the muddy, icy roads won't be too bad for them.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Wait, sorry - what was that about the roads?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Anyway, continuing on...Aha, yes! Our forces are finally united. Let no Frenchman sleep soundly knowing that the force of a united Russia is coming for them! Ura!

    Very nice, Fred.

I look forward to more of this.

It could use a bit more of narration as to what's going on, but somehow the one-liners work for you.

Chapter 2 - Battle of Munich

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Alright, well, you remember this ?

'Cause we're going right into the septic tank with this one. We're WAY deep in it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I don't have many men, but we're going to do our damndest. We deploy what forces we have in a line that more or less is as long as theirs. We're going to need every terrain advantage we can get.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So now, we sit and wait.

Our right flank ends up being the first to get some shots off. Russian steel doesn't just shoot Cannonballs, they shoot Nebulas!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I feel sorry for the lad who got his ass singed.

Unfortunately, their guns get their sights on our right flank, and we start losing large amounts of men. We order a withdrawal to the reverse slope of the hill our guns are on, to protect these men, and maybe even to spring a trap...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

While our right gets off the first cannonade, our left gets off the first volleys. Our flank, protected by both high ground and Grenadiers, is a slaughterhouse as entire regiments fire volleys into the forested basin below.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

However, the Bavarians soak it up like a dishcloth. A bleeding dishcloth. But nevertheless a dishcloth. And they keep coming.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Seems that the ones attacking our center are a bit smarter. They fire back.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Eh...maybe we spoke too soon. These guys ain't too shabby either.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But our Right flank deserves the most credit. They fire their muskets with such intensity that atoms are split.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Hey guys! How're you today? Why are you pointing a musket at me?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

What? No, I'm not going to kill you! I want to high-five you with my sword!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    CAVALRY HUGS!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our center cracks from a concentrated Bavarian attack. We rush a regiment of Line in to plug that hole.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And they plug it sexually. Also with a volley that routs all of the Bavarian attackers.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Unfortunately, on our right flank, the Cavalry hugs weren't accepted well by the enemy Horse, and our boys ran away crying to their mothers that their love wasn't accepted. So now we're outflanked and about to get some Cav hugs of our own.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    HAHAHA PSYCHE.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Note to self: Firing arty point blank into a clump of Infantry is fun. Very fun.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Exhibit A.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Exhibit B. These guys really want some steel balls inside them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Aww no, my hugs weren't wanted again. There go my hussars. Guess it's time to give them the big stick.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As you can see, the Bavarians are camper noobs. They're still in that damned forest.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The battle lines got a bit close in the heeeat ooof the moooment, the heeeat ooof the moooment, the look in your eyeeees~
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

IT WAS THE HEEEAT OF THE MUUUSKETS
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh well damn, looks like they got a moshpit from that song. Wrong music, buddy!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Speaking of which, just look at this . This looks ING COOL. I smell a propaganda poster. Anyone else?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

This, on the other hand, isn't so glorious. Well, not for the Bavarians, at least.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Anyways, yeah we won that one. Check out this cool . We captured their guns and won. 'Cause we're just that awesome.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Goodbye Bavaria. Hello Bavaria.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh, well, looks like Bavaria can produce Muscovite troops. Cool.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Aight, now we're pulling back to rest and refit. Oh , I hope we don't have to do this again...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Chapter 3 - A World At War

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
So not much happened up to this screenie. Roads built, men marched, etc. But this really sets the stage right here.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

That really pissed me off. So I took my anger and I built some damn roads.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Meanwhile, Austria's showing off again.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh, yeah, and Prussia declared war.

Wait, what? What do you mean I didn't mention that?

    Yeah, it happened.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

My allies didn't even help, the dinks.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Even worse, but I didn't take a screenie of it, Britain and Austria actually cancelled their alliances with me. I'd say this song is appropriate.

In any case, I clinged to them like a lost puppy, and it worked with Austria. Britain, however, wasn't so eager.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And Prussia wasn't hearing any of it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Yeah, you too, buddy.

Suck it. Austria hates you now too.

    Wuv you Austria.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh yeah, we're gonna massacre the Prussian fleet alright.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Well, we need to start somewhere, right? The Austrians are fighting the Prussians outright, the Brits won't be far behind...So the Prussians might align with Nappy, and oh boy wouldn't that be something to see.

Chapter 4 - Slaughter in Silesia

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Welcome back!

When we left off, we were about to fight some Prussians. What I didn't notice, though, was that there was a unit of 7-pounder Howitzers in that army.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Sometimes I really hate my eyes.

See these neat, orderly lines of troops before the battle starts?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yeah, those ones. Howitzers are magic, they make battle lines disappear.

I hoped my cannons would be able to put a dent in them, or even better, knock them out of action, fairly quickly.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

It didn't work out that way.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yeah, that's from one damn shell. The Prussians fired a couple hundred.

Yay, I took one out! This won't last much longer, right?!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Wrong.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As you can see, many of my rounds flew overhead or hit the ground in front of them. Which makes me a saaaaad paaaanda.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Finally, the Prussians have, apparently, had enough of kicking us in the teeth with a 7-pound exploding foot, and they rush at us with their outnumbered force. Oh yeah, did we mention that their accuracy count is 11 higher than ours? 37 to 48.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

This regiment lost 2/3s of their force, so we withdrew them. The regiment succeeding them lost 25% casualties.

    The Prussians don't around.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yay, Cavalry hugs! Our Cossacks charge their ill-equipped Militia to get some early kills, because they're 1337 hax0rz mofuggas.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Aaaaaaandthey'regone.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Canister fire did this. Payback is a , Prussia.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Awesome, our volleys actually hit them. We need to do them some great harm if we want a chance of winning, because with the accuracy they have, every dead one of them is two Russians living.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Remember when we said they were accurate?
This volley killed about 40 men.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But we routed that attack. Don't ask how, I don't know.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then they hit our left wing, and our Grenadiers decided to give em a bit of a Napoleonic Fredericksburg.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Give 'em some, boys!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Awesome, thanks. Okay, that should be good.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Okay, okay, jeez, you can stop now.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    CEASE FIRE ALREADY! Jesus christ!

Aww, see what you did?! You made them run away!

    ...Good job!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Son of a...
Do we need to have this talk again?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

See? Cavalry play nice. WHY CAN'T YOU BE LIKE YOUR OLDER BROTHERS?!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Alright, that will be QUITE enough out of YOU, misters!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Alright, yeah, so we're winning at this point, but it's been bloody as . We've had 8-9 Regiments absolutely mauled.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our Cavalry decide to spread the love to their guns, and the Prussians turn and run, those cold-hearted bastards. But we've won, anyway.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Jeez...one more like this, and we'll be ruined.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh well, at least the replenishment rate is good.

Here's to a good fall. Stay tuned, everyone.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Welcome back! When we left off, we had just beaten the Prussians with heavy loss in Silesia.

And now we have to abandon Silesia.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh, wait, I have an idea. Oh, Austria, where for art thou Austria?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    We gave that Silesia.

Oh, we might as well do a little skirmish too. We need something exciting in this update.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yeah buddy. I already feel good about this.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh boy, they have Grenadiers. I have a bad feeling about this.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our battle lines collide, and the deadly exchange begins.

By the way, NEVER fight Prussian Grenadiers with Russian Line Infantry.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Seriously, don't do it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They will turn you to swiss cheese.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Two of our Regiments are mauled in the fighting, and the Prussians break off - but not rout. So we send our third Regiment, by far the most numerous, to hopefully finish the job.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    FIRST PERSON VIEW :O
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

That bullet shot someone in the ass. Just saying.

Our volleys still take a long time to rout the Prussians. Curse our inaccuracy.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile, we notice the Prussian Grenadiers are making a move to try to hit our Guns. We march our two mauled Regiments at the double-quick to intercept. Something tells me this was a bad idea.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our troops arrive in the nick of time and begin pouring volleys into the Prussian Grenadiers.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But the Prussians fire back. And when we say fire back, we mean fire back.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Aaaaaand one Regiment routs.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And a second one does. Yeah this ain't lookin' so good.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then our larger Regiment faces them, and the Prussians fire heavily into it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    And they rout.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then the first two come back and march forward, but when they get within musket range, they rout again.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Finally, after rallying all three Regiments back, and desperate firing, we rout the Prussian Grenadiers.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Fortunately, the Prussian Artillery routs upon seeing their Uniformed Supermen run away.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Victory! But what a cost.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Aight, we're gonna leech off the Austrians again. Stay tuned!

I must admit I had an embarassing incident where I entirely forgot this AAR's existence so I'll work on a new chapter tomorrow

Oh wow, this is a pretty damn good AAR! And yes, we Brits are whores. Be interesting to see how this next battle plays out. The Prussians have both grenadiers and howitzers D:

Chapter 7 - Massacre at Vilnius

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Welcome back!

    Ohboyherewego.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Okay, here's the deal. I am really worried about this battle. Not only do I have inferior men, but I start on lower ground, and I have to attack with 3 batteries of Howitzers staring down my throat.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Lovely day for some Cavalry hugs, no?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    I think so.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

We overtake the guns and press on, snagging our line on a Regiment of Prussian Infantry. Oh boy, two for one!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our Hussars are getting overwhelmed, but with every dead Prussian, two Russian lives are saved.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Prussians decide to help, deciding that the lives of their own men aren't worth as much as that of a Russian horseman. It's flattering but untrue.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Luckily, though we lost over 100 horsemen, we destroyed 7 howitzers and routed the other 3. We were REALLY lucky here.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Deciding that we need to get a move on, our Light Brigade, at double-and-a-half ranks, advances. Twelve-hundred men step off and head for the enemy line.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Aaaaand they've already gotten another battery up.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

To the north, our newly-recruited Dragoon Brigade awaits, concealed behind a low ridge and ready to spring forth onto the Prussian left.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

To the south, our brigade of Uhlans and Cossacks awaits, ready to have the same effect on the enemy's right.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

We finally deploy some of the very few guns we have, using them to bombard the exposed enemy left flank. High ground isn't always a good thing for them...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Initial results? Promising.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Now, as our Lights approach their destination, we order the rest of our Battalions forward.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

We run them the rest of the way, hoping to provoke a Prussian response.

    It works.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our thin green line opens up, getting off the first shots of the battle.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our volleys continue pouring out. The Prussians scramble about in a fury, losing men left and right, attempting to get into battle lines.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

However, eventually, the Prussians find their shot-up balls and put on their game face. Their expert Light Infantry - Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 18 "Rochenau" - fires back, cutting down 37 of our Jägers with a single volley.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As you can see it was quite bloody.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As more and more Prussian infantry take position and begin firing back, Prussian Dragoons make a sudden charge on our line.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

However, it is beaten back. Here's an aerial view, just so you can see how disorganized the Prussian line is.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our regiments were less than 50 feet apart here. It was crazy.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Just as it appears that our lights will be overwhelmed, two Regiments of Infantry arrive on their left, extending their line and providing supporting volleys.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile our lancers come storming over the crest of the ridge, plowing into the Prussian right....
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

...and our Dragoons into their left.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Lancers and one of the two Dragoon regiments are routed, but their job is done - they shock and demoralize the Prussians and allow our Infantry to take up positions and bring up reserves. However, we decide to launch one last charge at their rear just for and giggles.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

A Russian man is best in melee. Ura, men!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Two of our Regiments, in Attack column, open fire into a Prussian Line Regiment.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And a lot of these I've forgotten the story to, so just enjoy some epic battle scenes.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

By now we've encircled them for the most part and are just shooting the out of them. Victory is at hand!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    "Ah'm comin home mawma!"
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Oh btw we won.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Bloodiest battle yet - 10,000 casualties! And we lost LESS men!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But we still have this army to deal with.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yeah, we're checking you out, deal with it .
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Stay tuned!

Chapter 8 - Battle of Mitna
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Welcome back! When we left off, I had just won a near-suicidal battle against the Prussians. My army is heavily damaged so I'm going to move a couple thousand reinforcements to join them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    And then this happens.

    THIS IS NOT OKAY.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So you we're gonna kill Artillerymen.

And by that I mean Orphans.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And we still manage to lose six times the men as they do ._.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then we're all like, hey, we're gonna save the day.

If you have battle problems I feel bad for ya son, I got 99 problems but an army ain't one.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Our position is a strong one; Our right flank (pictured) faces their main body, with our line extending infinitely to the West. If they try to march around our right, they'll be under the eye of our Guns. They have to either hit our Right, or try to march all the way around out left flank. Looking at the picture, would you really want to attack that?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Did I mention I was a defensive general? Thought not. I am.

Our Guns give a thundering barrage, showing that they're ready for some fun.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Prussian Hussars, however, are having none of it. They surge forward, down the slight slope in front of our main line, toward our Guns. We switch to Canister, and because the enemy is out of range, our Gunners have time to load.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Then this happens.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Hmm...is it bug season already, or...?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The Hussars are completely annihilated.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Enemy Dragoons approach our extreme right. Now here is the brilliance of our defense. While the Gunners reload, the Infantry fire. But we timed it perfectly, and the Cannons and Muskets fire at the same time.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Dragoons are scared and a couple spit out the Kool-aid they had been drinking.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Dragoons are torn a new one, with only a fifth of their number returning to their lines.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Next come the Garde du Corps.

and they go next too. With 9 men, out of a full Squadron of 120, being the only survivors.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then come the Prussian Grenadiers. And they instantly are torn to pieces by the combined firepower of Ten 12-Pounder Shotguns.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    See? Torn to shreds.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The High-Water Mark of the Prussian advance, getting to within 20 Paces of our Guns. Before being sent packing with a Lead Sandwich and a Blood Smoothie, of course.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Prussian Line collapses and folds back on itself.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

At nearly point-blank range, a Prussian Infantry Regiment, and 2 of our understrength Infantry Regiments, duke it out. We have the advantage of Fortifications.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

However, the fighting is still extremely deadly.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

A Second wave of Prussian Infantry come surging forward, into the waiting muskets of our center line.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But our volleys keep pouring out.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile, Prussian Guns have been spotted about 150 yards ahead of our Right flank. Our gunners switch back to Solid shot and let them have it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Prussian 7-Pounder Howitzers join the party, and begin bombarding our center. It's too late now, though; the Prussian Infantry have been destroyed.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And now the Prussian Howitzers feel the hot, hard love.

Of our own Guns, that is.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They hitch up and get going, they know what'll happen if they stay.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Victory!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

481 Casualties...that's probably the smallest number of losses I've ever taken in a major battle.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

To add insult to injury, we finish off the last of their army.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Ohai Saxony.
