Quintus pondered for a few moments.

    "
Hmm, I thought he received a significant amount of denarii from the Senate, but perhaps the heat wave of last year which disrupted the Senate prevented that. I have stated already we should replenish the skirmishers. As for the Denarii, if the Quaestor say we have enough, then I think that can be managed also. What have you to say Quaestors?"

ooc: since you sent a call throughout Spain asking for men to join a legion, I would consider that public knowledge. Senators having clients through out the republic.

Octavius now spoke loudly to make sure everyone heard him.

"Ah well, yes, logically our treasury is just fine. But at this rate of wasting, it isn't going to stay like that."

I have to agree to send the funds over. If we cannot support our commanders in the field then why should we have men in the field in the first place. It is for Mars and Rome we conquer is it not? Surely if we withhold these funds we shall anger Mars and the people.

A sacrifice to Mars shows that He supports our cause and will bring ultimate victory to the legions in Hispania. However...we still need to give the material needs to our troops. Gold will not fall from the sky...so we must send it to aid our esteemed Pro-Consul and to bring ultimate victory to the Republic!

    Lex Iberia
    I. The Senate releases 10,000 denarii to Lucius Libanus for the prosecution of the Spanish War

II. The Senate will raise 1,000 skirmishers for the war in Spain

"If there is no opposition, we can pass this without a formal vote. The legionaries should not have to wait for their salary."

    I concur as well.

    Decimus steps forward now.

I have a proposal to make...one from Maximinius himself. With our Northern forces smaller due to two of the legions from that area helping in the Thracian campaign and another aiding Pro-Consul Libanus...the Pro-Consul of Gallia, Maximinius Regulus wishes to ask for 20,000 denarii to levy a Pro-Consular legion for the Northern forces. He still has 13,000 leftover of Senate funds that were used to build roads in the north last term. The remaining denarii will be returned to the Senate afterwards.

    Marcus nods in agreement.

    I concur with both proposals.

    Varus nods to agree

I see no reason to oppose this

"Then the motion is passed, 10,000 denarii goes to the Proconsul of Spain, and 1000 archers are to be recruited for the legions in Spain.
