Major graphics downgrade after the release of FotS

Hello, this happened after I had a huge siege battle and now my game's graphics has been reduced dramatically.

This one is an overhead of the map i played. It's a lot more dull and the ambiance is less lively, almost reminds me of Napoleon (shudder)

Also, I have two comparison shots with the issue of the drawing distance, it seems that it has been lowered as well.

Has anyone else experienced this problem lately? My friend keeps saying I'm just overreacting. But I swear the game looked much better about a week ago.


I have a ton more screenshots to check out. I just want to know if it's the game or driver. I have downloaded the latest. nVidia 570 GTX. Just hope it's not a hardware issue

Five months? Yes, it has been a while.
Post the gfx.log.txt.

There was a major change of the graphics engine with FOTS. Removing gloss, reducing level of detail, reducing texture memory usage, introducing various bugs, ... . Some stuff has been fixed meanwhile but the graphics are still worse than in vanilla S2, imho.

Just post new comparison screenshots to get a proper judgement whether it's related to the changes which came with FOTS or whether it might be a problem with your setup.

Hmm, I couldn't find a .txt document in my logs folder. Does the game make it in case of any automatic downgrades?

Did a search and no results. As A Barbarian said, it's probably just because of the major changes after FotS was released. I've gotten over it and feel as if my problem is resolved. Any moderators can close this thread if needed
