To Saxon Lands

William arrives at the saxon stronghold, he has ridden for many days to be here and now he comes to the saxon King. In his hand he grips a letter...

There was no saxon king, merely a few tribal leaders still determined to fight back against the normans. Perceval is eventually escorted to one of these leaders, Ethelred.

James knelt, "You may not know me. I am Lord William Perceval, the traitor Norman." he sighed, "You may not know what I have done. I stood against the Norman King when he ordered the slaughter of Saxons at Nottingham. I gave up my land, my life, I gave up my family for this cause. My son now sits as the heir to the throne. A throne that has been stolen by a Norman dog, a dog who would order death to saxons, who would drink their blood at his dinner table. Lord William Neville has taken the throne and now will look to Saxon lands. I have proven myself a friend of the Saxons. I have fought against you, at Warwick. But it was an honourable fight. I did not chase down your men, I did not sack the city as I was ordered to by the King. I am a Saxon friend. Now I ask you, stand with me, help rid these isles of a Norman despot, a man who would be King over all Britain. I can promise you peace, I can promise you safety and I can ensure a link strong between our kingdoms that will stop a war ever happening again of such magnitude. Will you stand with me? For peace?"

For peace?

Ethelred slowly rose from his seat.

This land is not yours, why should we aid thee, yet another norman dog?

[Dark Storm]

"Better a peaceful Norman dog than an insane tyrant, no?"
James sighed,
"We are powerful are we not, all the while the Normans eat at your borders threaten your people. In exchange for your support I would ensure a peace remained between our realms and death to any man, be he Norman peasant or Lord, who tries to break it."
He looked at Ethelred,
"All I ask is your support. I wish peace between the Saxons not endless war. You know war will consume you and drive you from these lands if it continues. The Norman Lords are powerful. I offer you support and peace."

Your words sound hollow, Perceval.

Ethelred replied.

You speak of two realms. There is only one realm, and we are it's rightful rulers.

[Dark Storm]

"I present you with one option Saxon. There is no second. For my son to give you land he would lose the faith of Norman nobles. You would lose your influence on the Norman throne and any chance of peace. To turn your back now would only leave me with no reason for peace and you in the same predicament before. To support me would ensure your peace. It would ensure you lost no more land to the Normans and could regain your former strength."

If we were to regain our former strenght we would easily kick you off our isle!

Ethelred shouted, furiously.

William nodded,
"Then don't you want the opportunity to regain that strength?"
