Default Is anyone getting excessive lag in framerate?

I have a pretty powerful setup that is able to run Empire and Napoleon on Ultra, but I'm getting a good bit of framerate drop when playing Third Age on the higher levels.

Any suggestions why this is? I would think I could run this at similar settings with no drop.

One reason may be that M2TW only uses one CPU, it is not multi-threaded, so having the latest and fastest rig will not give as great of a benefit as newer applications which take advantage of the latest technology.

That would probably be why my RTW runs so laggy too I guess.
I found this worked well for me for some reason. I don't really know why and maybe I just imagined it out of hope.

You are welcome, also wanted to point out that TATW is heavily scripted and customized using text files for the most part and this may contribute to lag problems; and finally, Roll Tide!!!

I only get lag when defending weather top, and only when archers loose their arrows. Otherwise no lag unless it is a custom battle with insane amounts of troops.

I think there is a way too shut down two of the four processors which takes it dual processor system, I am no computer guy though so not sure, this has been noted before that quads don't work real well though. My rather weak presario with 2gigs of ram and mediocre GPU does OK though as a dual core. The GPU bit rate maybe the larger issue, on board sucked, 32 bit was not great, I think now I am at 64 bit and it works much much better. Things get expensive though at 128 bit so I have not done that yet. Power supply and RAM become issues from what I have read and faintly understand.

You might try going to your graphics options on the main TATW menu and setting them too low, that helps.

i have tried everything... all graphic was at lowest still massive laggs....
normaly i play battles with 5-6k men and no lagg at highest graphic. but "amon sul" just keeps lagging.... it doesnt matter if its 1 unit of archers or 10 it just laggs the same, as soon as 1 arrow is in the air it becomes very difficulty to give orders to my troops. tried to only have infantry as garrison and it didnt lagg at all... but some minutes into the battle a group of archers started firing and the lagg started. tried to put the speed at x2 and x6 but because of the lagg it still took ages to finish of the remaining 400units. as soon as the archers couldnt fire anymore cause my trolls charged straight into them the lagg stopped. dont want to auto resolve cause i then loose a lot of troops and might even loose the settlements cause im usually greatly outnumbered and have to rely on the steep hill so that the incoming troops are exhausted when they reach the top.

Am I the only one having a problem?
