Actually gloss isn't really back but metal shines again and as seen before the wet effect has also been restored (can be seen best on the spear tips)
Here is a direct comparison (FOTS image is without MSAA since that was too bugged originally):

In the screens above, it looks like that there are less blurry faces than in FOTS. Also, even vanilla had blurry faces. When I was comparing vanilla with FOTS, I wasn't able to come up with any conclusive screenshots proving the reduction of LOD. But the same scene with the same settings uses much less VRAM in FOTS compared to vanilla. Part of it could be some reduction in details. But it could also be sth different.

Rome totalwar has better LOD.You can see it in 3-4 steps in the screenshot i have. Then compare it to my shogun screenshots where even closeup most units are missing shiny helmets and armor due to lod.And the blurry faces everywhere but not in rome!

    HI

I got both games installed shogun2 with dx11 patch and shogun2 FOTS version and diffrance in visual quality is HUGE.

You say that the new version of game there is no gloss on metal, well its not that, the new version missed bloom/hdr completly its gone also there is no DOF at all no mather what settings you use. I play all o ultra without FORCED reduction in script.

Yeah, the graphics on FoTS look terrible compared to Shogun 2, all the units look like all weird from a distance and the faces dissapear from pretty close as well, this wasn't the case before FoTS, I hope the change it soon.

Funny what Creative Assembly do with his graphic engine! First they release High Quality Graphic than with each patch they lower the Graphic Quality and destroy the Game! On the GDC 2011 they played that Demo on a Laptop with a very good Graphic like the Screenshot below!!!!! Only for the press they show nice Graphics to get the High Score in their Magazine and later they reduce the Quality of the Game step by step

What we have is now Total War Games with Console Graphic!

    How should look the game------->

That's almost certainly touched up, like those screenshots for Rome 2.

Yeah seriously. Game concepts are almost always touched up. If you seriously think these graphics at maxed dx11 look like consoles, you clearly can't see the high resolution textures. I'd recommend using the context camera to see what I mean.

Now that I look at those screenshots above with a comparision, why is it that my graphics look like the ones from the FoTS screenshot and not like on the 4th of july screenshot, I'm extremely certain I got all the patches so why doesn't it look like that for me? And I'm talking about the faces in particular, they dissapear at a short distance like in the FoTS screenshot instead of staying like on the 4th of july screenshot.

EDIT: Actually, I was thinking, is there some kind of way to play FoTS with Shogun 2 graphics instead of FoTS graphics? The Shogun 2 graphics seem to be better in general and more colourfull as well.

Sounds like you are over using your video memory so the game is automatically downgrading your graphics without telling you. Edit your preferences script to override the amount of video memory it detects.

Thanks, I shall look into this and see if it helps.

Edit: Thanks, it worked. The game looks better now and the lower FPS I get is barely a difference to what it gave me first.

Maybe you mean DOF and HDR like that below! This screenshot is not made with HDR and DOF enable but looks still very good!

All the characters still look incredibly dull though...especially in S2. FotS itself seems fine. S2 seems like , especially in the colors of the men.

dont think it looks good, maybe if you like 10 years old graphics like in ROME TW

maybe someone more clever them me will explaine why they take away the DX11 DOF and HDR?

Why they add those new effect like flood during rain( THATS THE MOST UGLY LOOKING EFFECT I HAVE EVER SEEN) or a black smoke
