Default STW question: Unit honour and other params

    Hello, all.

I' ve got a question about Shogun:TW (Warlord ed.).

What's the meaning of the number on the right side of the unit icon (in scroll) beneath unit honour.

I take a unit honour as (nearly) a unit quality.

But what's the other number? Why some units have it, and other don't.

What an impact on the gameplay does it have?

Found no info on this number in the manual.

    Please, clarify.

    Hello there yourself,

I'm guessing you are thinking of the generals stars. 0-9 stars usually (can get negative if he loses plenty of battles, or increase if he wins plenty). The more stars, the better general and likely leader responsible for all your troops in any battle X - save the daimyo, "clanleader" (who will always lead in any battle - if present).

Anyway, reported for transfer (to STW1-section).

    Thank you, Axalon.

How does the star system influence battles and unit parameters?

Do I need to post to the STW thread?

    As far as I know:
for every 2 stars every one of your units in battle gets +1 attack, +1 defence and +1 morale.
    So, it's huge...

and "minus-stars" should give a malus

It gives the usual honour bonus, as you've described, minus the usual 2 point morale bonus per 1 point of honour - this is provided by the general during battle and is based on his proximity to the army (+1 morale per star if within 50 metres, +1 morale per 2 stars if more than 50 metres - i.e. halved).

Good answer, caravel. The other factor with stars is auto-resolve -- you can have inferior numbers of crappy troops win the day with a high-star general. Also applies to MTW, not sure about the rest of the series which seems to have more to do with raw numbers of troops. Don't know about anyone else, but I've been having a blast playing STW of late, the lack of VnV is a bit odd, though.
