My computer was cleaned out and windows 7 installed. Before the clean out medieval worked fine. Now when I try and go on it it says ' Medieval 2:Total War enocountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

Here is the system log, think its all of it 22:26:07.910 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2

BIOS update = http://www.medion.com/gb/service/_li...s.php?did=4958 along with the instrusctions.

http://www.medionusa.com/ Put in your serial number and let it do the work.

You may have to find the Chinese version for both but this will get you in the ballpark.

    Hi,

I do have EXACTLY the same error message.

    [...]
    22:26:07.941 [system.io] [warning] open: preferences/player.txt is missing
    22:26:07.941 [system.io] [warning] open: preferences/keys.dat is missing
    22:26:07.941 [system.io] [warning] open: preferences/keys.dat is missing
22:26:07.988 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

CTD on startup. I did install Stainless Steel 6.4 and could even play it, then I had this error, then it worked again, now I constantly have this error...

Game Version: Medieval II Gold Edition (problem appear if I only install Medieval 2, too)
    OS: Windows XP
    Graphic: ATI 5700

Despite not having any daemon tools etc installed I get the Securom error starting with the normal exe (possibly because of other games that come with a newer version of securom, I have checked the whole registry for daemon tools etc entries just in case) and am using the exe that used to be distributed by securom to solve this problem.

    I did the following:

    - reinstall (did not help)
    - delete everything related to Total War (Rome, Mods, etc.), including a manual registry search (and deleting everything Total War related)
    - reinstall again and again and again
    - update to the newest graphic drivers
    - delete all graphic drivers (because I read there might be a problem with the ATI HDMI Audio drivers or having to Sound Drivers - onboard and ATI; having said this, it DID work initially....)
    - probably something I have forgotten to mention

Please help me, if you can.

    Thanks a lot!
