well since no once seems to want to make AAR's anymore (which i enjoy reading) i guess ill just put one up of my FOTS fall of the samurai campaign
Part 1: Satsuma Rising
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:The Fight beginsSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Well, first off when i started i had the imediate idea in my head "ima be independent." So thats was my goal, to be a independent Kyushu state. But my first problem was, How was i going to take Kyushu
When i started i looked through what i had, obviously i knew i had to be modern, (seeing reviews that said AI liked to use modern infantry) so i mustered up a army of 6 levi rifles, and a general, and marches of to Hyuga, a enemy army quickly met me outside their city.... i was outnumbered, but i had experience in Total war games like Empire and Napolean, (empire my personal favorite) so i knew just cause they had a few extra units of levi dont mean they're gonna annilate me,
But something caught my eye, they had 2 units of levi spear, i guessed it was only since it was the beggining, they were using what they had. It was a easy victory, maneuvering a single levi can greatly increase your chance for victory, plus i had a fleet close to me, knowing the new bombardments were around, those had evened the sides to my favor.
The tides turn to the Shogun
Half-way thereSpoiler Alert, click show to read:I was feeling it was going to be a good campaign by the first battle, i thought if i could take the city that easily i might complete this campaign like its no one's buissness. After several turns of changing allegiance of Hyuga and making Inn's and upgrading farms.
Then something turned sour, my closest trading partner above me (sorry i forgot alot of clan names) had changed allegiance towards the Shogun, including the Oka clan towards the North. Knowing my current loyalties laid with the emperor i took up the responsibility to expel this sudden surge of the Shogun from Kyushu. After 5-9 turns i had the Army of Western Satsuma and Easter Satsuma prespared for full assualt, if need be, luckily i didnt need to declare war on my neighbor, he made the first move.
I rushed the Western Army of Satsuma to meet any incoming army, there was no army? i didnt know what was happening, it was usual that S2 CAI built up a army in from of their nearest city, but nothing..... i figured it as a stroke of good luck, and besieged the city, next turn 2 stacks of the enemy marched down into Hyuga, but i prepared myself, the Eastern Army went to meet them, i waited so they'll attack me, i set my army up on the right side of a canyon, where the BAI decided to rush into the middle ofMy line's and levi's opened with full volley's with bombardments to add, losing 3/4 of their army they rushed in the cavalry, i hoped that my lines will hold off the cavalry attack, they did
, with that victory i knew the East was secure.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The western army had a successive fight, i had half of Kyushu (geography terms) under my control but it wasnt real until i took the rebel stack left from the former clan, with my army damaged from the siege, i couldnt help but let my region take the spanking, after 6 turns, my army met the rebels on a very flat plains, we were both equal in men, unit type, and i didnt have navy support, only advantage, i had woden cannons, not much of a advantage, so i had to win this by wits, like the AI usually did charged melee infantry, and made very visible cavalry flanks or charges, my men couldnt launch volley's fast enough, my wooden cannons lost their amo, it loked like all was lost before, my levi shot one desperate volley, which killed their general, making 4 of their levi's route into a shatter, the battle was turning, after they had all routed, i let my general rush them down and cut down the largest of the units
Afterwards, there was a statue in honor of the battle, i rushed my army to kill off the last of the rebels, i learned then that most of my battles will rely on my Levi rifles, which they did taking 4 more samurai rebellions, my levi's proved very effective even against Line Infantry
Part 2: the Satsuma-Oka war
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:I think the largest of my war containing the most events, and large battles was the Oka war.
The Oka war was the last war Expelling the Shogun forces from mainland Kyushu, they owned a copper mine, 2 coal mines, and 5 provinces. i needed the resources to build up a navy and to expell the dreaded Shogunate off Imperial land, I had started the war with Oka after, building my navy high, and upgrading factories, Inn's, and Farms, my economy was now average, i needed to remove the 3 Oka provinces from Kyushu before pushing for peace, i launched the Ary of west Satsuma, lead by my Daimyo up to Tsukushi, where a Oka army incredibly large met me, i had to retreat.
The Oka force followed me to a river, luckily their was only one way across, so i put my levi in a trapezoid formation around the entrance, my wood cannons would be essential, the enemy launched all their cavalry across, my levi's quickly shot up the cavalry and repelled the first wave, then the real problem, the infantry came, a fierce fight raged for 30 minutes, infantry in melee, firing, only thing going well was all their men were bunched up so every shot hit.
The fight ended, i came out victorious, i charged the retreating army back to their city, where another half stack was there!!!, i thought the western army was done, while my east army was slowly pushing up through Bungo and Buzen, the real fighting was in the west, next turn i retreated into the hills, their armies chased me, but before anything started you wouldnt believe what happened, their 4 star general changed sides, bringing 5 units of fresh levies, i owed alot to this general, if it werent for him i wouldnt of taken the Oka army, the battle was quick and lethal, with new forces and a good general, and the war in the east was noproblem little resistance, and they hated their master, and finally the war of the Kyushu Shogunate forces was over
Part 3: Many Small Wars, Saga-Satsuma War, Chikoku Tensions, and foriegn affairs
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:Many Small WarsThe Saga-Satsuma warSpoiler Alert, click show to read:This wont be a long one but their were small war with the island Shogunate forces, My new general from the Oka War, was a four star general, my new Heir and his name was Shimazu Nazukumi, he was the fore front of my army, where he went i knew victory was guaranteed The northern island had a gold mine, which would benefit my economy, but they had a fairly large army, so i led a stack army, with a american advisor, and new parrot guns, over there after 3 turns of bombardment i led a siege which ended in complete victory, the western island was the same thing, with the exception of a small rebellion, but this siege was after the Saga-Satsuma war...Spoiler Alert, click show to read:The war was minor, Saga was the second largest nation on Kyushu and leading controller of Chikoku, and dangerously close enemy of Tosa, my ally i found my self in a situation, but i decided to go with Tosa, to complete my plans of Kyushu domination, Nazukuma was led down with a new professional army, to take Hizen, after finding their army, defeating them in to large scale fights, which involved alot of infantry charging and artillery barrages, and ended in 2 heroic victories, i had completely crippled Saga control on Kyushu, and crippled their navy, the war, as i thought would be long and expensive was relatively easy and didnt cost me even 500 kuku, Nagasaki was undefended, and all i had to do is take Tosa province and end the war, but the war completed my goal, i now had supreme control over Kyushu
Part 4: The Road to Independence
