Potions Classroom

Violeta sighs, slightly anoyed by the assignment. "Seriously, a Second Year? Wonderful. Maybe I can just do the two myself and lie on the day of examination, saying the second year was sick.." She thinks to herself as she stares around the classroom, then at the book, to find a suitable poison and antidote to make. Ashley simply reads her book, trying to figure out what to make.

Cecil nearly did a spit-take upon hearing that the Professor would be prepping them for O.W.Ls. That isn't even until fifth year! He might be our head of house, but I gotta ask if he's nuts...there's such a thing as too early, Prof White! Still, he felt that he had grown much more capable at Potions over the last two years, and this would be an even better opportunity to hone his skills and make a better impression on Professor White after nearly poisoning him in their first year and largely relying on Weatherby's aid in their second.

Cecil rose, looking for a suitable second-year to partner with. Settling his eyes on the white-haired Hufflepuff Evangelina, he strode over to her and spoke. "Hey, Evie Silver right? I think I remember you, you're friends with Weatherby Wiggins's sister Waverly, right? Tell me something - you got a partner yet?"

[Kip]

Weatherby looked across the room for his sister. "Wave!"

The girl spun to look at him, swirling her hair behind her. She struck her hand to her forehead in a mock salute, before trotting over and taking a seat next to her brother. It would be just like cooking at home over the summer holidays: Weatherby was prone to burn himself, and Waverly would end up doing most of the work.

[Narf]

Evangelina looked up at Cecil, she had seen him around and had appreciated looking at the water-fight that he had participated in at a charms class some months ago. She tried to smile with moderate success as to say, 'Yeh I'm Evie Silver.' and 'Mhmm I'm very good friends with Waverly.' But all she actually managed to say to this friendly yet intimidating boy, was
"No, Noons asked me, thank you for.. asking."
intimidating because he was of another house, a boy and two Years older than herself. He had always seemed a kind person so she tried pushing her social inability aside. She let a hand run through her hair as to remove the white curtain from her grey eyes.

Most of the second years were either absent from this class or already taken. Maybe it was ok for two third years to pair together? He hoped it was, because Atticus was in no mood to keep waiting to get started. He noticed Augustus did not have a partner so he walked over to the Ravenclaw. He hadn't paid much attention to Augustus. In truth they barely knew one another. Ever since he witnessed the death of his friend two years ago he seemed changed though.

Augustus, do you have a partner? All the second years are taken, so I guess we should be partners.

Fritz looked around for a scond year, and settled for a fellow hufflpuff (Is it okay that I teamed up with an NPC?)

"Not a problem." A small smile crossed Cecil's features. "You up for partnering with me, then? I've gotten a lot better at Potions over these two years, so the chances of me blowing the two of us to Kingdom Come aren't too great anymore." He laughed, though it was true that he had a lot more pride and confidence in his Potion-making abilities this year than he had last year and especially the year before.

Evangelina smiled back.. He seemed a good partner.. eh In potions.
"I'd love to Cecil. I'm glad you asked me now that you are such a great potion maker. I myself could use some help.. So.. Yeh, it is.. Nice"
She looked down on her hands on the table.
"Should we be at your table or my?"

Violeta walks up to the Professor's desk. "Professor..will we have to find our own ingredients or can we use the classroom stores of ingedients this time?"

Evangelina smiled back.. He seemed a good partner.. eh In potions.
"I'd love to Cecil. I'm glad you asked me now that you are such a great potion maker. I myself could use some help.. So.. Yeh, it is.. Nice"
She looked down on her hands on the table.
"Should we be at your table or my?"

Cecil shrugged and laughed lightly, heading back to his own table. "Does it really matter? Eh, my table, I s'pose. I mean, it's survived my cauldron nearly exploding or spilling over two years in a row, no reason it won't start failing us now."

[Narf]

Evangelina smiled again, she took her cauldron and placed in it the necessities and moved over to the Third year, placed the things besides his cauldron carefully. She was quite nervous and looked at him from behind the curtain of white..
"So, what are we going to make?"
She was happy that there was a third year boy that could guide her.

Cecil scanned a list of basic potions. "I say we make something simple, I still wouldn't trust myself not to burn the classroom down if we try anything too complicated, and it isn't like we have to brew up the Angels' Triumph Draught to impress Professor White. How about I cook up a Confusing Concoction, and you make the Minor Healing Potion?"

Weatherby pointed to a page in the textbook when his sister parked beside him. "Right. Last year, Cecil and I cooked up a Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent - that's what we used in the garden this summer, remember? - so I've started to understand the pesticides a bit. I'll mix up a bit of Doxycide, that should do the trick. Probably would only give you a stomach ache if you drank some by mistake, but its a poison nonetheless. You can work on a Minor Healing Potion as the antidote. Sound good?"

Waverly simply nodded and pulled out her own book, flipping to the indicated page. The pair gathered their cauldrons and their ingredients, and got to work.

Pairing up with a fellow Ravenclaw, (Metalius isn't here, so i'm just going to pair up with an npc.) the first thing he though of was that old vial of Thestral blood he had purchased quite a time ago. True, he had the vial stored in his vault, but he had separated a single drop from it, which took forever, because it was surprisingly thick for a droplet of blood. He had hardly any idea what kind of potion he could make with that kind of material mixed in, but it was worth a shot. For the antidote though, because he didn't know what would happen if he mixed it with any sort of poison, he knew he'd need something potent. Possibly a bezoar, he was certain there were some in the potions class. For the poison,he was still thinking about that.

Violeta rolls her eyes after getting the ingredients she wanted for her potion and poison, and looks around. None of the second years seem anywhere competent as several have blown up their cauldrons or have made incorrect potions, and she would never pair with a first year, unless she wanted to end up in the Hospital Wing. Ashley had found a Hufflepuff second year to pair up with, and the two seem to be having fun as they make their potions, to Violeta's disgust. She turns to the book where she has it open to the Alihotsy Draught. She has gathered several Alihotsy plant parts for the mixture, along with some other herbal parts to add into it. For the antidote, she has a bezoar, some unicorn horn, 2 mistletoe berries, some mint sprigs, Honeywater, and lavender.

She decides to make the antidote first, crushing the Bezoar with the mortar and pestle before adding several measures of it to the pot and stirring it slightly. She then adds the Honeywater and lavender to the mixture and then turns the tempature up to medium-high and lets it simmer for several minutes. She waves her wand over the mixture and waits the hour and a half for it to brew, occassionally stirring it to ensure it does not become unbalanced. She adds the mint sprigs and berries, and then stirs it several times clockwise and counterclockwise before adding the unicorn horn and letting it brew for ten minutes before finishing by moving her wand over it once again. She takes a flask and puts some of the antidote in it, labelling it antidote before clearing her cauldron for the Alihotsy draught.

Violeta begins this one by cutting several Alihotsy plants in half and the leaves off, putting in the leaves and some of the center material of the plant along with several berries before stirring for several minutes and letting it brew for twenty-five minutes on a high tempature. She then adds the rest if the Alihotsy and other plant materials, stirring for fifteen minutes and letting it brew on medium for the same time. She then waves her wand over it before adding the final two ingredients and stirring ten times clockwise and counterclockwise before placing some in another flask and labelling it poison. She cleans her station and waits for the Professor to grade her poison and potion, thinking of lies to tell if questioned about not having a second year paired with her.

Evangelina nodded.
"I made that last year on my own initiative while second years was out looking for ingredients and I had been told to read in the book. Which i had already read. I used the time making a Bruise paste thing and a Minor Healing potion so I can do that."
She to her new partner.

Violeta walks up to the Professor's desk. "Professor..will we have to find our own ingredients or can we use the classroom stores of ingedients this time?"

"As I said, you may use anything in this room. You can't leave, though, as last year was... too exciting."

Fritz arrived, and unpacked all of his supplies. He then took his seat, wondering when his other class mates would arrive.

Augustus arrived, steeling himself for whatever disaster he would probably create, and hoping that he didn't do anything stupid. After taking his seat and unpacking his supplies, he waited for the class to begin.
