Around the world, archaeologists are uncovering artifacts that suggest the existence of previously unknown ancient civilizations, much like the mythical city of Atlantis. There is a growing belief among certain scientists and archeologists that tens of thousands of years ago, before the rise of today's man, sophisticated human societies populated large cities that possibly featured mechanized transportation, electricity, and advanced weapons systems. Proponents of this theory believe that these civilizations were wiped off the planet and that the evidence now lies buried miles beneath the Earth's surface. This two-hour special will investigate these beliefs and uncover the truth about people who lived before the beginning of recorded time.

This is a new show on H2 airing tonight, something which I hope brings a little more science into the speculations (not so typical of series like AA). I've been hoping for better understanding of prehistory specifically pre-recorded human history.

I'll give it a chance because after all, what other options are there showing? Reruns definitely get old when they get old...

Ok, so far nothing mind blowing (well it's rather mind blowing it took this long to get a documentary) they start right out playing some eastern music rehashed time and again from older documentaries... big no, no.

I think this is AA reborn into Ancient Terrestrials, but I'm still holding out the show isn't over yet. No doubt it's interesting subject mater.

I'd rather they stick to real history tbh. 10,000 years of recorded human history to work with and they choose to speculate on comparatively insignificant things. H2 was promising, but I'm starting to lose hope...

I'm going to remain a bit skeptical on this. On the one hand I hope for them to concentrate on actual ''lost civilizations'' of the time, such as whatever culture reigned in Neolithic Ireland which created the Palace of the Boyne, or the one which inhabited Malta around the same time.

Well here's my verdict, C+ besides the fact I was super annoyed by the reuse of over played theme tracks, it looses any power in forming real theories on lost civilizations because just like Ancient Aliens they try to cover too much and too broadly as if you need to be convinced! I mean first of all everyone watching the show (for the most part) believes or wants to believe...

It's still worth a watch considering there's not a lot else recently made beyond the usual Atlantis proposals. There's a few things I didn't know as well they brought up that I'll be looking into, but overall it has lots of potential, but just didn't bring my cerebral cortex to orgasm.

Welcome. I don't know about theories, it's more about speculative observation, but unlike AA series, this could actually go somewhere. I mean they featured quite a few sites that go way back and we really do have to ask when did modern humankind begin to think in terms of logistical planning? I've always wondered how we get things like the Mayan calender tracking such a broad vision of time, broader than the time their own civilization was on the map, and we can't possibly have discovered every city to have ever existed with such a vast potion of the landscape redeveloped in our time and the fact that there has been sea level rise as well as a host of potential natural disasters which could have easily wiped out any ancient culture as discussed. There's just so much to prehistory we will never know, but I have hopes that there is much more to discover in the future.

first you will need to read real history instead of watching sensational TV junk

and what is the mythical city of Atlantis to you? is it much like the mythical city of Troy? (which is now believed to exist)

That isn't to say "modern humans" but today's man as in skyscraper buildings (industrial revolution man), but meh it's a heading for a show that's been sensationalized a bit so? Sometimes it takes that to get people to watch.

I wish they would go back to the AA or occult stuff. I watch Swamp People every once in a while since i'm from that area but they seriously have no remotely historical programs on primetime now. The rest of this is just very unreasonable attacks and totally unproductive to the discussion because for one some of the things in the heading of the show were only suggested briefly and not the focus. As for dragging names of others down and tossing up a bunch of links to have everyones' minds immediately shutdown and closed to the topic I request you stop.

If you have something to say specifically about something that was discussed in the show great, I'm all ears, but my intent for opening this was not to promote pseudo science or get into a war over every speculative theory out there.

Please either watch the show or respond directly to something that I have written here, and leave the strawmen in the field.
