    RTR VII Patch 2a
    'General Information'


    RTR VII Patch 2a is out now!

    Since November, the team has continued its effort to fix the reported issues and added some amazing new content to the game. We have tried to make it more stable by fixing some script issues and hope we have succeeded in that goal.

    Besides bug fixes, the patch adds an new amazing feature to the game: an improved battlemap environment! Muizer laboured long and hard in order to create a perfect mix of RS II's environment and RTR's own work. The result is splendid and gives a whole new look to the mod!

    Changes, Fixes and Features in Patch 2a:

    Spoiler for Full List
    -More historically accurate rebel family members were added
    -The console should now be enabled for Vista users
    -Fixed the Spartan retraining bug
    -Mercenary issue solved
    -Some unit card issues have been solved
    -Histria has been made a Major Region, Alalia a Mini Region in order to increase the Realism
    -Road issues all over the map have been fixed
    -The Getai warband's upkeep has been lowered
    -Falxman stats have been improved
    -Reforms code has been cleaned up
    -The getting started script has been fixed
    -Some AoR unit issues have been addressed
    -A script bug causing numerous CTD's has been solved
    -The Arverni campaign description has been altered
    -The new RS II-RTR environment made by Muizer has been added
    -And more


    Note that this is not save game compatible!

    We hope that you will keep enjoying the mod as much as we do creating it. RTR VII is far from finished, with our dev's being busy thinking and working on various projects like a revamped Health & Water Supply building tree and a completely new German faction! Keep an eye on the RTR forums for previews of those new features which we hope to release later this year. We will continue to work towards the completion of our project and would like to ask you, the fans and players, to report any bugs you find. The more bugs you report, the more we can fix! Have fun playing the mod!


    'Download and Installation Instructions'

    To install this patch, place the self-extracting archive in the RTW Directory in which your RTRVII folder is located (e.g. Program Files/The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War) and extract it. It will ask you if you want to replace files and merge folders; say yes to all (if it doesn't ask you, you probably haven't installed the patch correctly).

    Patch 2a includes all fixes and updates from Patch 1(a) and both Hotfixes, so you won't need to install those in order to get an up-to-date version of RTR VII.

    Mirror 2: Megashares

    Again, please note that this patch is not save game compatible.


    'Hotfix: 1.2(a) to 1.2b'
    Patch 2 has an issue in which the new environment causes trees to form a blockade around settlements in siege battles. Muizer created a hotfix which will solve it. The Hotfix has been updated to include another fix. Please follow these instructions in order to update RTR VII to patch 2b:

    Instructions:

    - copy the archive to your RTRVII\Data folder
    - right-click on the archive and select "extract here"
    - navigate to RTRVII\Data\world\maps\base and delete map.rwm
    - these changes are save-game compatible with the previously released patch 2(a)

    'Known Issues'
    We know that there are still some descriptions missing. Behind the scenes, our historians are continuing work to write them, though. In the next patch we hope to have finished all of them.

    After the opening battles, playing as some factions you might encounter a Fog of War problem. This can be solved easily by opening the console (hit the '`' key below 'esc') and typing 'toggle_fow'. If this doesn't work for you, please post it in the bugs & issues thread and we'll see what we can do to solve it!

    Fantastic work guys! RTR really is the best mod for Rome!

    Just a quick question as I've always wondered when it would be fixed. Has the tile for the Battle of Heraklea been fixed yet? No more massive intro battle in woods?

    Dear Forum,
    Then I installed the original RTR VII and the corresponding hotfix in my RTW folder and I enjoyed RTR VII greatly. Unfortunately I missed to install Patch 1(a) and now I learned that Patch 2 has been published. Is it now adequate to install only Patch 2 by skipping Patch 1(a) ? I´m simply asking because in the Patch 1(a) rar-file is a folder named “launcher”, which is missing in the Patch 2 rar-file.

    The tile still has some forest, but also open space, so it depends on where you deploy.

    This is actually the general thrust of the changed environments: Dense forests have more open spaces, open spaces have more forest patches.

    The problem with the former patch was that you were not able to deploy outside of the dense forest when you played as Epiros. Great job on enviroments

    I don't believe that it is essential for the launcher to function, as far as I know the only thing which was changed to it in Patch 1 was the version number. I think that CC left it out for this patch since it doesn't really matter

    Thanks for the kind words, guys I hope we have finally managed to bring out a stable patch Thanks to all the guys who posted in the bugs thread, by the way (especially BattlerBritain and Voice of Treason). You're input helped a lot.

    @Darkangel87: I forgot the launcher, but that doesn't really matter (the launcher will probably say you are playing version 1.0, that's all ). I incorporated the rest of the earlier patches though
