It was debated a long while back on how to implemnt any sort of usual city managment into the mod, but I'm not sure what the end result is going to be. But bottomline is that yes, you will have full access to all your troops from the beginning, but retraining and new recruitment of atleast AoR and good units will be a quite long wait. On the other hand, you will be able to spring into action with your armies from the very first turn.

Shouldn't the mountain clansmen have some sort of mounted troops? Just thinking of how they are in the books...

Well, perhaps those garrons were only for transport? It would be unlogical that people from the mountains and woods fight on horses, there were no mentions of mounted clansmen in the battle of Deepwood Motte, even their champions fought on foot.
BTW, was anyone annoyed by how weak northmen are in combat? In Deepwood i thought i was reading LOTR when that Gimli ironman had a kill count of several men, Asha killed a lot too. The ironmen, despite being caught in the wood(a bad fighting ground for them) by clansmen(who were in their element) and badly outnumbered, killed a lot more than they lost. Also Gregor and Lannisters trashed Stark infantry more than once. I won't even go into length about Tyrion(it's obvious GRRM was biased). And the battle for Winterfell, where Ramsay with 400 men so easily beat a 2000? (although that was northmen against northmen).

    1. The Mountain Clasnmen have very bad equipment. In addition they aren`t full time raiders like the Ironborn.

    2. The Ironmen were fulled by the power of despair.

    3. The only battle where i remember the Starks really being trashed was when Robb fooled Tywin by sending Roose and some of his infantry against them. They were outnumbered heavily and well dismounted, and weren`t expected to hold.

    1. well, i can agree, except that all that camouflage was for nothing. It was stupid that clansmen were coming at Asha one by one instead all at once and overwhelm her.

2.True, they have very high morale(Moat Cailin).

3.Well, i was thinking of the battle when Roose was crossing Green Fork when he withdrew for Twins and few thousand northmen were easily destroyed by Gregor, perhaps Duskendale, and all those Karstarks who ran loose after Robb killed Rickard and did nothing.

    1. I refer back to what Lordie said. NOT full-time raiders. Think of them more as brawlers and indivdual fighters than an trained force. (Like picts/britons versus saxons)

    2. +Better equipment and combat experience

    3. As Lordie said, +pretty much all infantry with their backs against the water against cavalry led by the dreaded Mountain That Rides, numbers untold? Panic + being charged by cavalry has never ended well for the panicking side in history.... EVER.

It's interesting to note that most battle outcomes in Game of Thrones, as opposed to most other fantasy series, are mostly determined by strategy, tactics and experience rather than individual bravery or miracles. (Think LOTR-movies, books are slightly diffrent but still in essence)

Well still Saxons were defeated by Britons in several battles. Wonder how it would be on some shore or even a ship... clansmen would got slaughtered if even in such favorable circumstanses they die so much. They are a lot like Picts! Hopefully Stannis will be able to arm them better(if he stays alive and wins).
About panic... well, Lannisters had their share of panicking, only sounded a bit suckish when you remember that they relatively sucessfully defended against Gregor on Green Fork(that guy is impossible to kill, i think he should have +10 hitpoints).
Yeah, many fantasy authors barely know what they are writing... anyone here read Christopher Paolini's "Inheritance Cycle"? His battles and medieval warfare/armies were laughable.
    Going off topic I know...

True, Britons were successfull on certain occastions, but got their bums spanked by the Saxons time and time again, mostly due to tactics and equipment. There's a reason why Briton Gaelic is only spoken in Wales and to a degree in Kent. (And yes the saxons in turn nearly got spanked by the vikings, and later GOT spanked by normans.)

And of course the Lannisters have their share of panicking aswell. As I stated in my previous post, most battles in Westeros is determined by aforementioned reasons, meaning that any Westerosi army properly led and positioned can have victory. They were desperetly trying to fend off Gregor's surprise assualt, and proving unsuccessfully doing so (which leads to panic/routing), they were destroyed. Had they known/been better prepared (as when Edmure Tully defended the Stone Mill crossings) and been on the other side of the river, I'm sure the outcome would have been diffrent.

And yes I have, but then in Paolini's series, there's dragons, mages, magicial species and medieval equivilents of terminators. I'd hardly call that warfare medieval

As of now it would be pointless to have the nights watch as a playable faction until the wildlings are added.(which i am an avid supporter/fan of the wildlings)

There is no such thing as briton "Gaelic" good sir, Gaelic is the celtic language of Ireland. Irish and Welsh whilst related are really quite different.

I love how many of the different vassal houses are represented. Any chance of crannogmen appearing as a scout unit or the she-bears of House Mormont as a strong defensive unit, refusing to move when attacked?

I know that the regional units (rills cav, white harbor knights, umber greatswords, dreadfort inf, woolfswood hunters) are all recruitable by other factions if said faction controls those given regions, but what about the other northern units? namely northern cavalry. or actually, any of them, mountain units, northern spears, the whole lot. If im playing as the lannisters and i conquer form greywater watch to castle black, what will i be able to recruit in winterfell and cerwyn and torrns square? lannister men at arms and southron knights? or will the northern units be available?
I guess u could extend the question further, asking what if i conquer the west with my stark legions? will i get knights and southron crossbowmen at the crag and hornvale or will i be able to recruit my northern axemen and longbows? I know that the units are faction specific with a few being region specific, but honestly if u think about it, the faction specific units are just as regionally based as the rest. Northern cavalry obviously have to come from the north, duh. so when I conquer winterfell with Tyrion lannister, what type of cav will i be able to recruit? i cant get my southron knights because we're in the north with the old gods, but i cant get the standard northern cav because only the starks have them in their roster. can anybody help me with this conundrum?????????

You will be able to recruit all units of a specific faction if you conquer their towns & castles, with the exception of household guards.

There will be a certain twist to it, though, you won`t be able to recruit them immediately.
