It also had stuff about controlling the last reaper 'murmur', who becomes your ally for some reason?? Stupid and fake, but I wouldnt put it past Bioware after these endings.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware just decide to say " it. Lets copy Skyrim and make a Reaper Paarthurnaxx."

In case you haven't seen these yet (they've been mentioned around here before), here's a very nice set of three videos discussing the endings and the poster's ideas about them. Total runtime almost 2h.

I watched his vids and subbed immediately, his final video is the best of the three. Especially that rushed feeling you get at the end of the game which he talks about extensively.

Anybody mind ever giving a cliff's notes for these 2 hour vids for the people who don't have time to sit down and go through it?

I guess somebody has already posted this, but I've only just read it and would say it makes a lot of sense if it is true.

I've heard it's balls and I've heard its legit, it does seem to make sense but who knows.

This is probably the best thing I've read on the ending:

Its interesting to see how he attributes events in the game to literary devices.

On the subject of lack of closure, both Baldur´s Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark and Dragon Age had those lovely screens after the end telling what happened to the characters. No expensive cutscenes - yet those were among the best parts of the endings. Why Bioware didn´t include that...

Yeah, I could use a summary of those vids as well. I am excellent at finding time to goof off, but I don't think I can find time for 2 hours of video.

Well, considering the fact that they really appealed to the dudebro shooter fans in this game (on-the-rails storyline in beginning and end, fewer dialogue choices, an optional combat-focused version of gameplay that eliminates most/all RPG elements(), multiplayer, and combat very similar to Gears of War), it seems pretty obvious why those don't exist. Those people don't really care about closure and are fine with the ending right now anyway. They would probably hate on the ending with those screens with all that dialogue they would have to read or go through to finish the game. And, I mean, let's face it

    You know Starcraft 2?

Apparently Blizzard stated that they got feedback that the game was TOO LONG.

As a result they are looking to make the next games a lot shorter

I mean for crying out loud who cares if the game is longer? Especially if it's a Single player. According to Casey they made the ending shorter because they thought things like Anderson was too long.

Bioware minds at work: "Why not? we already copypasta'd the deus ex endings and made kai leng look exactly like adam jensen. Lets ripoff more stuff and pass it off as 'art'."
Now that I've had more time to think about it is Bioware in any position to defend their "artistic integrity" when they in fact copied (photoshopped) other people's work for their own profit?

They should try playing Half Life 2. I always clock in a campaign lasting more than 16 hours. Heck, I can beat most other games' campaigns in half that time or less (and usually on the third hardest difficulty).

I have wondered about that, too, but it is honestly little more than deflection. "We are artists, so do not question our masterpiece!" Um, hello, have you ever heard of art critics? For that matter, this is basically commissioned art, so artistic freedom is supposed to be included, but the buyer should be told some basics about what will be in the art (cue the promises made for ME 3). If they REALLY want to go for the "games are art" thing, I think we should grab some art critics and have them critique the game. Let's compare that to the reviews of game critics who have only 3 number keys on their keyboards: 8, 9, and 10.

Anything can be art. Heck a piece of paper soaked in sewage water can be called art.

Mass Effect is great but it doesn't do anything that's ground breaking. Total War for example does groundbreaking work in their niche market but they never call it a "masterpiece" as your digging yourself a hole there.

I mean there's nothing original in Mass Effect, I mean you got

    1. Robots vs Organics (which throws everything you did for the Geth out the window including Edi)
    2. Copied the endings from Deus Ex human revolution with the buttons and hell, for Deus Ex it was ok for them to somewhat go with that route because of the nature of the game
    3. Photoshop a picture off the net for their own profits because they had no imagination on what Tali should look like
    4. Photoshop an album from a band because they had no imagination on how stargazing should.

You can base work off someone else's work but to copy it right off the bat is just plagarism. I'm surprised nobody's sued them yet for infringements.

You cannot call your artwork a masterpiece when you stole/ripped off other people's work.

I honestly think that EA had little to do with it and Bioware simply was being arrogant. The amount of defending they're doing is weird IMO. The recent evidence like the final hours shows that they had a lot of stuff but chose to cut it out because they thought everyone would be ADD.

The fans sending Bioware cupcakes in three different colours but all taste the same is pure genius. Everyone who donated to the cause gets to leave a small note for whoever eats it as long as it's civil. Really impressive they raised a grand within half an hour lol.

Can't wait to see IGN try and slate this one.

Yeah, I know. I think we have covered all of that already in here. I even posted a video that is a mix between the Deus Ex and ME 3 endings quite a few pages back. I am simply stating that if they want to call the ending "art" to defend it, then they should allow it to suffer the proper scrutiny art goes through. Of course, if someone would take them up on that, they would probably back off. An experienced art critic judging the ending would be similar to seeing it tossed in a meatgrinder. Add the fact that the ending is basically plagiarism (in my post way back with the vid mentioned above I showed games that had similar happenings in their endings: Halo 3 for lost crew, ME 1 and Saren for Illusive Man), and the ending looks even worse.

By the way, no one has bothered mentioning it on here, but has anyone noticed the inconsistency with Joker? He has a brittle bone disease, and one wrong step can literally break one or more of his bones, but he can always walk out of the Normandy unhurt at the end after it crashed on a planet. Considering the Normandy went from extreme FTL speeds to sub FTL speeds/onto a planet, shouldn't his skeletal system end up as a jigsaw puzzle?

Yeah... been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Well, technically I never beat the game since I read the leaked ending before the release of the game and then decided to read the spoilers after release to hope it wasn't true. It was true, and worse than I had thought it would be. At least I didn't come out as scarred as others who did finish the game. My Shepard still hasn't even left the Citadel for the first time, and he isn't going to until they fix the ending.

I was only bringing it up because we had talked about all the plot holes in the game on here, and somehow we failed to bring up our favorite pilot and his extremely brittle (aren't they hollow or something?) bones. So, on the bright side, we now have physics AND medical science to support our claims on how crappy the ending is (assuming we didn't before).
