Many thanks for a great mod! I should only mention that besieging certain Persian cities (mostly in Anatolia, but also in Sakhara) I could not enter in battle and the game crashed. I constantly recieved a message saying that file "data/models/textures/##now_standard_parthia.tga" was missing.

No, it really wasn't. If we were to count all the times hoplites fought imperial armies, I wager you'd get a really bad win:loss ratio for the Greek side.

Even in defeat there is no certainty. At Marathon the Iranians in the center broke the opposing hoplites (no, there was no planned retreat) - it was the Ionian conscripts on the flanks that doomed the Persians in the center at Marathon.

Even the numbers were not that different. Long story short, at Marathon it's likely the Greeks were hardly outnumbered, at Thermopylae they scarcely killed anyone, and at Plataea the armies were equal in size.

Not all of them. Our only source on the battle, Herodotus, says nothing of a retreat. He just says the Athenians in the center broke and fled inland.

The same Herodotus, who is notorious for exaggerating numbers of enemies, gives a figure of 20 thousand dead. But if any of you had the common sense to look at it objectively, you'd see how that's absolutely retarded - you can't kill 20 thousand men in a pass 14 meters wide, especially if those are trained men with giant shields. Plus Persians were not known for blindly charging anyway.

1. At Marathon Herodotus names no numbers, just the 600 triremes. 600 triremes can carry 18 thousand soldiers at most, but since the Persians added conscripts on the way it's obvious they didn't use their full capacity. But have fun making up numbers, that doesn't make it any truer.
2. At Plataea I suggest you read Duncan Head's estimate, based merely on frontage considerations, which gives roughly 39-40 thousand infantrymen at most, of which some 20 thousand we engaged. Some cavalry was there, but it did not partake in the battle.

have you tried another mods who has better balance than vanilla? namely EB, XGM, RTRVII, or FATW?
