Nah I think it applies to Roman history to. After all they did burn all Hannibal his records of the war..

I thought he called himself Augustus,or at least told the senate they should call him that instead of king.

EDIT : Wasn't he offered the title Romulus and refused and so became Augustus ? and wasn't he he consul for the 7th time in that year + gave power back to the senate.

Late republic history is incredibly interconnected, you can not really look at one isolated event, and say this is why it happened, like snape said, it took a long time. Octavius is connected to Caesar, who is connected to Pompey, who is connected to Sulla who is connected to Marius, and so on. I would say its more connected than say US presidents. But because the major players are not heredity is makes it so interesting, most of them having to climb the ranks to power in vastly different ways.

They had a lot of respect for Hannibal, as they did for most of their enemies who weren't barbarians and actually challenged Rome. Consider how most see Hannibal today - kind of a heroic leader up against very unfavorable odds who held off Rome for years. Many people know who Cicero is, but I would not call him a victor, but people regard him highly because so much of his work survived. A great orator sure, but politically he did not do much.

You could, or just petition the Senate for funds right off the bat

I'll take that one step further and take any any Roman figure considered to be a 'winner' and demonstrate how he was in fact a loser.

Although I disagree about Cicero never doing anything politically important, as he is my favorite Republican figure

Someone go make a speech in the Curia . I would but I think it would look bad if a Tribune made the first statement

It takes awhile to get Plebian Approval up. But its easy to get it low. Plebs are sometimes hard to satisfy.

But its better than the -2 or -3 we had.

How do you get the Plebian approval up ?. I know one of the ways is by following what they want. any other ways ?

And what are the affects if they are in Negetive or in postive ?

I used to determine that based on what exactly was done in the last term, in terms of passing bills/victories/war weariness/total wealth of the republic etc.

I'm not sure how SS is doing it now though.

Tribunes in the late Republic where both Patcrian and Pleb. And they had one and you saw what happened. He did not even show up the last term. they just have to accept a Patcrian as a tribune. Hell he gave them housing reform.. That is a start

....no. It was illegal for patricians to hold the office unless they underwent the process to get themselves stripped of status by being adopted by a plebeian family. Essentially they would have to adopt a new identity and it was considere extremely shameful by the respectable elements of Roman society.

ohh I did not know this. this is intresting to know and I just read now that Augusts had all the powers of the Tribune. But not the acually title of it. Strange of all the times I heard of people using the tribune title to gain power. I figured they where all Rich folks. but instead they where plebs . Intresting

Plebs could be rich, but by the time you talk about Augustus you're no longer talking about the late Republic, but the early principate. There are a number of political differences. Augustus was invested with a unique package of powers which included greater proconsular imperium, various priesthoods, votive titles and honors, and tribunician powers. They were not part of the annually elected tribunes, they merely held the power of the tribunes. In the late Republic prominent or rich plebs were normally elected. Patricians loathed everything about them

Patrician consuls regularly backed tribunes with money to either buy vetos or prevent them.

As far as months to go to move to spain, That is much too long, even 1day RT is long since our year is only 9 or 10 days.

~920 miles from Bologna to Valencia

Roman armies of this period marched a max of twenty miles per day on good roads, there are no roads outside Italy at the moment. Let's say they average anywhere from between 7 and 10 miles per day in areas without roads and it could take well over 100 days. I would place that as two game days to get there.

But they are going by ship. they would not walk 900 miles with no roads-

As for 20 miles a day - on a road fairly easy - I would not say max. 3 miles an hour walking is not fast so that's only 7 hrs. rough terrain obviously much harder to cross.
