For some reason the game stops processing the EDB file and there is no error message which is puzzling. It could be that the file is corrupted.

If you have a good band width then I would suggest to download and install the torrent version (link first post) which will not have corrupted files. Then download and install the patch and the quick fixes. After that apply the optional German text files. (All in second post)

I have tried literally every trick and fix I've read for this mod to get it to work and it doesn't. All I get is the startup screen for a few seconds and it goes back to the desktop. I'd upload a log but there is nothing in the logs folder. I'm using Medieval II and Kingdoms, with fully updated patches on steam. I installed Rage of the Dark Gods exactly how it says on their website as well as the quickfixes and stuff posted here, and still to no avail. I'm guessing it has something to do with the update steam did this summer.

    Hi Gigantus

First: I love this mod (your version of it especially) and i managed that it worked for around a year.

Second: Lately it doesnt work anymore. Tried multiple times to reinstall but didnt have any succes. Can you help me? I would be glad if it would work again
    What i tried:
    - deinstalled all other mods
    - reinstalled Medieval II and kingdoms
    - Disabled UAC
    - Downloaded Mod again (from torrent and TW-website)
    - Patched it with 005 and installed the 5 Hotfixes
    - Tried to start it with the .bat, via steam/properties and the universal mod launcher
    - copied the medieval II.exe and renamed it kingdom.exe
    - tried all that several times and in different orders

Medieval II and kingdoms work without Problems. i can start the mod and see the loading Screen for 1-2 seconds and then i get the chaos message.

    Here's my logfile.
    M2TW.system.log.txt

I see you have steam - have you applied the universal batch file or changed the existing batch file to take care of the recent change in the steam version? Steam changed the kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe

    8. Start the game
Make sure you have installed all patches and quick fixes.

The sudden failure after the animation folder processing points to a faulty installation. Did you have all 15 files in one folder and ran all three installation parts in sequence and installed into the same (medieval 2 total war) folder?

i used the universal Batch file, copied the medII exe and renamed it kingdoms.exe which works with other mods (and it worked with CoW for some time). As i said: it CoW launches but crashes after 1-2 seconds with the "Sigmar save us" message.

For my Installation Folder: Look at the Image. I think its complete. Click image for larger version.

The weird Thing is that i tried the Installation with the files from the torrent and the files (complete Installation) from the TW-Website. Both gave me the same result.

PS: Dont know if that is important, but i use Windows 8.1 64bit...............

What is the installed size of the mod? The initial installation should be around 9060MB.
Here is some stuff regarding win8 and the store\UAC:

Update: I just had the same problem with my Bare Geomod installation - a crash on loading with the last lines mentioning the animation pack.

I solved it the following way

    1. Make a back up of the mods folder
    2. Uninstall the campaigns and the main game, delete 'left overs' manually.
    3. Restart the computer
    4. Re-install main game and campaigns, update to 1.05
    5. Delete new mods folder, copy back the mods folder from step 1

Not the vaguest idea what happened, but I noticed that while installing Bare Geomod the install path was not the usual one and I had to change it manual - which means something got messed up in the registry.

There shouldn't be any Russian text left.

There is talk about an extensive update\patch but I am not aware of the details.

Great to hear you are enjoying this mod!

Ok it has passed some time since my last post and i succeded in running the mod. The Problem was that it crashed all the time because i copied and renamed the Medieval 2.exe to Kingdoms.exe (which is the normal way to get mods running under steam). When i downloaded the original Kingdoms.exe the mod worked fine.

Thx for all the hints and help Gigantus, there are some People who appreciate it.

PS: Hope there will be a 1.6 with the Gigantus version

Utilize Steam's original medieval2.exe file by using this method for all your mods:

    1. I can't recall if I included that voice pack, but most likely not. I do not know if it is compatible with my version so make a back up if you want to try it.
    2. I am not sure what you mean, are you talking about the battle editor?
