    Default Reading Herodotus

I got a paperback version of Herodotus' Histories.

I've gotten through about 20 pages since I got it a month ago. (I've been busy with school )
Anyway, has anyone out there read it before? If so, do you have any tips to read and understand it well?

The farther from Greece you get the more entertaining it is

I was delighted to learn my ancestors in Armenia apparently liked to set piles of fruit on fire and dance wildly as they inhaled the fumes. At least I think that's a story in there.

Yeah I've already gone through a few, one came after Alyattes rebuilds the temple of Athena in Miletus, then Herodotus goes to story of Arion and the dolphin . Had almost no flow except for the fact Periandros was Corinthian, and the Corinthians told a story about Arion

I thought his description of India was pretty cool (gold-digging ants is hard to beat), i believe he also describes the Jains- he mentions some religious sect that can harm no animals or something like that; as well as some kind of unsavory sexual rituals.
