There where at any given time, only 2 star forts in Japan.
Well 3 if you count another modern fortification in Hakodate but its not star shape and kinda small.

Nonsense! I had a lovely real estate agent tell me that "thou hath picked the right time to purchase these lands milord! 'Tis a market prime for development! Why, not the sabbath before last, Lord Windsleydale Chestershire Esquire the Third knocked down the local fort and erected a castle fit for a king!"
(Note: Clearly do not grasp old English, I THINK Sabbath is Sunday, with a name like Windsleydale Chestershire Esquire the Third, I have clearly never met an English person ever, and frankly, I dont think I've ever spoken to a real estate agent)
A real estate agent? Those are the ones that can bribe rival factions, right?

True and i know they are a traditional bunch but what use is a arrow tower or stuff that was designed for 100 meter shots in a modern setting, surely they modified forts to suit the times where a rifle was a common item shooting 300meters.
what use is having cannons if they didnt use them for defence of a castle?.I have not studied japan at this time period but again in nearly 600 years something must of happened.
If we just get a cut and paste fort im going to be peeved at this so called stand alone game.
I would really like to see the ability to go inside buildings like ETW/NTW.
Or maybe add more destruction to a fort and make walls come down?that would be cool.
Reputable sources all say Japan was resource poor, hence why they had a huge trade deficit until the late 1890s. The US came to Japan to open up a market for their goods, not because of Japan's natural resources. Japan lacked all the resources needed to industrialize, hence they had to import coal, steel etc... The army was raised largely with debt.
And I did not contradict myself, Japan IMPORTED not exported - you mixed up the terms.
Watching that video of FoTS reminded me of one of my favourite naval games 'Distant Guns' of the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05. The graphics in that game are no where near as good as what I see here although the game play is historically accurate. How marvellous if the naval and even land battles of that war could be reproduced with TW graphics
