Apologies, I guess I got the wrong person. SO I notice Shankbot12 has highligthed this thread again so maybe it needs something concrete to hang a poll/vote on?

Sounds like a great idea, something that might drum up a little interest anyhow

It sort of got side-tracked by SBH's infinitely better Anthology, but yes it still has merit. If I get some time this week or next, I'll try and put something a little more concrete that can be considered. It is somewhat vague right now.

Just posting to say the staff are aware of this and actively discussing implementation. We've been quiet because we don't agree yet

We'll likely reach out for feedback when we have a plan of some kind.

Well there should be a TOTM and TOTY. If you just have TOTY then you are going to have to have people read 52 stories. Sorry but that is too many to vote on. 12 is a better number

Agreed. Having to vote on 3-5 entries intermittently would help cull the numbers down.

Fear not, we have thought about such problems.

All you have to do is this.
    TOTM
-includes 4-5 entries based on the winners of the TOTW of each week in that month
-Voters get 1-2 votes (1 vote can be a problem because people will vote for themselves and two voted can cause a tiebreaker)
-No advertising for votes (example: "Vote for this in the competition); Advertising the competition is acceptable
-Winners will be able to compete for the TOTY (and possibly earn 1-2 points for the MAARC award)
-held the last Sunday of the month or the first Sunday of the new month
-voting period lasts till the following Sunday
    TOTY
    -same rules as before
    -12 entries for each month
-voting period begins the first week of the new year and lasts one to two weeks
-winner receives either an award entitled "Best Tale of x" (x representing the year) if not that then winner should receive 2-3 points for the MAARC Award

    What do you all think?

At the moment we are planning that this will be an AAR competition.

We've been focusing on an AAR comp so far. The interest in a TotY is noted. We have something else on the horizon that should be quite interesting for the community

Hi guys, we know this has been a long time coming, and as staff we have had some 'heated' discussions on the various options we could use to run the competition, and now we'd like to get your feedback. Below will be three options we have considered and your thoughts will be greatly appreciated, but first some stuff we have sorted out all ready:

    • The competition will be called the AAROTY, no prizes to whoever guess what that stands for!
    • There will be no self-voting
    • Votes will be viewable only after the poll(s) have closed and voters can be anonymous
    • No asking for votes
    • Advertising is allowed on this site only
    • The Winner will receive 6 WSCM points

Right know that is out the way:

    Option 1 -
To enter the competition you must have entered at-least one MAARC in the past year
    Option 2 -
To enter the competition you must have come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any MAARC in the past year.
    Option 3 -
Open submissions - anyone can enter and have a chance of winning who had an active AAR with at least 6 updates in the past year.

Sorry for the delay, but as stated above we have been very undecided on how to spin this. Again, we'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback - but please bear in mind that nothing definite will be decided solely based on this thread.
