Adding pistols to cavalry

This thread is a tutorial for adding pistols with the correct animation to an ETW mod.

1. Create a new warscape_equipment_themes table in DB Editor by cloning the existing one. Then add the following row shown in blue below:

2. Now go to your mod's unit_stats_land tables and select the row of the cavalry unit you want to have pistols. In the "animation table" cell enter "personality_officer". In In "Unknown 5" replace the existing word with "pistol". In the "Warscape_equipment_Theme_IDREF enter the words "euro_cavalry_pistol".

Hello, when I do your steps to make a unit with pistols the game crashes. Can you perhaps take a look at the .pack file and see what I'm doing wrong?

I'm trying to make the dragoons have the pistol.

EDIT: ok i figured it out, but i have another question: is it possible to have infantry with pistol and sword?

Yes. Create a new equipment theme as above but with a different name in the first cell, except this time, remove the reference to "euro_cavalry_equipment". In the "Primary Weapon" field place the name of an infantry sword weapon (you can find a list of their names in the "warscape_equipment_items_tables"), and place "pistol" in the secondary weapon field. Then go to unit_stats_land and type in the name of your new equipment theme in the "warscape_equipment_themes" field.
