Default How to put my own model in the game?

Sorry I don't find a suitable tutorial. Every tutorial I read plays with vanilla items only.

I have a new hat model and texture. I put it in the game but the texture references are wrong, the game reads a whole texture file on the hat.
As I see in Milkshape, the uv map of the vanilla hat is referring to a small texture file which is found in its folder.
But people say about the atlas file which is a different, big one.
So do I need to put my texture on the atlas? Or a separate directory? Or both?
Can I set the uv map in Milkshape? On which texture file?

    Is there a useable tutorial?

Afaik not... what you have to do is to paste your texture on the texture_atlas, and then write the coordinates into the "atlas files"... the position and the size of the texture on the texture_atlas.

In Photoshop i have a "grid" where i simply can place and read the coordinates of the upper left "corner" of the texture. No idea what possibilities you have in other programs

    Great!
And I should read the coordinates from the huge atlas dds, isn't it?

When I see the atlas there is two reference to the small dds files which contain the particular texture and references to the big atlas dds. Why?

No idea..in fact those are useless, since they aren't used, but you still have to add them in the pack and with the correct path -.- if not the texture won't show up. Quite annyoing, if you ask me.

    Yes, exaclty.

My PC will be back in Action in few days, then i can upload some pics, which will illustrate atleast the basic workflow, if you don't find it out by yourself till then

Is it possible to use new atlas files for an existing nation?
I don't want to bother with the original atlas.dds thus I made a new one on a different name. I set the parameters and references in the .atlas but it seems the game loads the atlas of the original faction.
It might be impossible or I did something wrong.

Afaik, you can only use one atlas per nation.
But you can create a new atlas for a new nation of course.

For the uniforms or for the horses, you can have as many atlases as you want.
You can also rename it if you want.
in the Unforms table, you have entries such as France_Inf_Gren_Grenadier
Just replace it by France2_Inf_Gren_Grenadier to use a France2 atlas

Of course, the name of the variants and the icons and info card must be renamed too, so it can be a lot of work, but it's perfectly doable.

So I can use more atlas files. That's very good news because replacing vanilla textures bring unwanted performances in the game.
For example I put some models in the pack but used only a single head from them replacing a vanilla one. It causes the drummer disappeared from another unit, only his drum and backpack remained is visible. Strange.

Is NTW 1.0 moddable? When I put my model in that version it doesn't appear. Only when I put it in the patched version.
