Is this going to be a standalone mod?
and is there anything you can do to make traders more influential?
Like a trade bonus for the region of the resource if you have trade rights with that faction,
increase the relations and increase the religion influence (thus posing the dilemma of purity vs. prosperity as well as political influence or prosperity when accepting/declining any foreign influence/trade),
and more aggressive AI in defending it's own merchants against foreigners, as well as some way to expel traders (it may be politically unacceptable sometimes- but there is no reason not to have that option).
What would it take for more communication between the kings ("Can you help with some money and I'll return a favor" or something)?
Or a promise/debt/loyalties complex?
And how about some more personality influence on the nation's future (especially with AI, that will change it's mood according to it's leaders)-
like a peace treaty after a king is dead or something, as well as random trait-flips in the 20's and 60's, and insanity and stuff like that
BTW Can you tweak the acceptance of vassalage and endings of war? People didn't have such a problem with vassalage in those days (and even if they did, a cunning AI will accept only to betray soon after). And in the case of wars- annihilation wars were never common (at least not among the same religion), but rather gradual expansion wars with annihilation now and then. The human player should be penalized for not ending a war (by the pope/other factions).
