the deadline was march 2012, but i guess i can still write my humble requests :

- Battle of Argentovaria or Battle of Argentaria was fought in May 378 between the WRE and the invading army of the lentienses, a branch of the Alamanni at Argentovaria (modern Colmar). The Alemanni were overwhelmed by the Roman legionaries, though they stood their ground bravely. Only 5,000 (on 40000!) escaped from the field. With this defeat, the Lentienses disappear from history.
The king of the Lentienses, Priarius died during the battle. Emperor Gratian, who had given the command of the army for the battle to Nannienus and Mallobaudes, gained the title of Alemannicus Maximus.

- Battle of the Save, fought in 388 between the forces of Roman usurper Magnus Maximus and the ERE emperor. Theodosius defeated Magnus Maximus's army in battle. Later Maximus was captured and executed. Gaulish comitatus against east palatine troops and goths, a great battle !

- frigidus of course.

- all the stilicho battles : pollentia and verona against Alaric. Fiesole against Radagaisus.

- Battle of Ardalio fought in 398 between a small but elite imperial force (5000 men of Herculiani Seniores, Ioviani Seniores, Lanciarii Gallicani Honoriani, Leones seniores, Sagittarii Nervii Gallicani, Invicti iuniores Britanniciani and Felices seniores from gallic comitatus) commanded by Mascezel and 70 000 men of the count of Africa Gildo (brother of Mascezel !! And more crazy : the last revolted count of Africa was Firmus, the elder brother of this two guys...killed by Gildo!!!), who used local roman forces (very weak) and local levies. the small force crushed the savages :-)

- Constantius III victories against Constantine III (usurper) and his ex- general gerontius (who revolted against this usurper : things were pretty complicated during those dark times!) in Arelate and wisigoths in 412.

- Battle of Ravenna also known as the Battle of Rimini was fought in 432 between the two strong men of WRE, the junior magister militum Aetius and the senior Magister Militum Bonifacius.
Bonifacius, though victorious, was mortally wounded during the battle, died several months later and was succeeded by his son, Sebastian. Aetius fled to the Huns and returned victoriously with an army. Sebastian was exiled and Aetius became the de facto ruler of the Western Roman Empire.

- The Siege of Narbonne : it was a conflict between the Visigothic Foederati of Aquitania and the Western Roman Empire. The Siege began in late 436 and carried over into 437, when the Roman General Litorius (second fo aetius) arrived with the Gallic Field Army and some bucellari. Litorius surprised the Visigoths and routed their army before they could draw up a coherent battle line.

- Battle of Orléans (my favorite) took place in the year 463 pitting the forces of the Western Roman Empire, under the command of the magister militum Aegidius, against those of the Visigoths who were commanded by the Visigoth King Theodoric II and his brother Federic.
Aegidius, who had proclaimed the secession of the northern part of Gaul in 461 after the assassination of Emperor Majorian by Ricimer, a magister militum of Germanic origin who wanted greater control over the Western Empire. Ricimer installed what he hoped would be a more easily controllable emperor, Flavius Libius Severus Serpentius, a move that backfired as he was not recognized by a few of the provinces or by the eastern half of the empire.
Aegidius, having been stripped of his title by Ricimer, threatened to attack the Italian Peninsula with his considerable gallic army. The Visigoths, sensing an opportunity to extend the frontier of their northern kingdom past the Loire River which was the contemporary boundary of their empire, and having been encouraged by Ricimer to attack the northern Gallo-Romans to deflect their attention away from Italy, mobilized their army for an attack and Aegidius countered them with his own forces. The two armies met at Orléans in 463. The conflict ended in a costly defeat and rout of the Visigothic army and the death of their commander, Federic, the brother of Theodoric II.

- The Battle of Déols was a battle c. 469 when the Visigoths thwarted an attack by an alliance of Bretons or Britons of the Romano-British Riothamus and Romans of Soissons Domain.
