    OOC: Agreed.

Lothair glances back at the door. Then looks at Lord Marsh.

She didn't seem at all against it. We got to know each other and it seems she enjoyed learning about my home in France.

Lothair went silent and pondered some more.

I believe Mary is comfortable with the courtship because you trust me as your Knight and now your vassal as Baron of Bedfordshire...and she has gotten to know me as well. A man of good career and humble origins seems to interest her.

He nodded, he supposed he should stop testing his friend and future son,

"Good. Let us then let things run their course... Consider thyself betrothed... And you shall marry this next summertime I think. Summer is the best for weddings.."

Thankfully that won't be long...I was hoping to marry your daughter before I left for the Noto campaign. Gives me time to plan the campaign with Archbishop Odo as well as plan for the wedding with your daughter.

Lothair then snaps to attention and bows to Lord Marsh.

I thank you for all you have done for me and the future of my family in England.

"And thank you for you loyal service. A man finds himself with few and treasures the ones he has. Soon it will be my pleasure to call you one of my family.."

    OOC: Logging for now.

Lothair bows and then takes his leave from Marsh's castle. He would look back to see Mary at the window. He gets upon his steed and watches her for a moment before riding off for his Barony.

Lothair rides for Lord Marsh's Castle. He pushes the guards aside and rushes to find his liege. He comes over to Marsh and hands him a note from the Crier.

My lord! Earl William Neville has taken the crown of England and proclaimed himself the next Lord of Richard's legacy. And now...Richard Perceval, grandson of Richard I and son of my old friend William Perceval and his wife, the daughter of Richard I has returned to our lands as the rightful heir. There is support being called for Richard Perceval. And we cannot forget Cain Lionheart, son of Sandor Berkshire...another rightful heir of England.

So we have a usurper...and two blood-related heirs...what shall we do, my lord?

    Lothair nods.

Then we shall throw our support behind Cain Lionheart. The Order has already dedicated its forces to his cause.

    He nodded,

"I believe that to be the most valid heir.. although I pray that no arms must be used against the other claimant.. but the King was clear about the succession... It must be followed, as his Royal vassals, it is our solemn duty."

I would rather not see these lands torn by war...hopefully this conflict can be abated and rightful rule restored. I have the Order on standby. Though I am not for supporting William I...we may have no other choice. Cain is dead and only Richard II lives...I only hope that nothing befalls the last prince.

Bran set about cleaning the armour. First, he bathed the mail in soapy water, to remove the oil. After some hours, he dried it, and then placed it into a canvas bag of sand, shaking it vigorously, removing the rust. Finally, after shaking the sand from the mail shirt, he oiled the entire hauberk, polished the helm, and hung it from the mannequin once more. He went to Lord Marsh to tell him that his armour was clean, and ask for another task.

In the beginning, Prometheus brought fire to man. Wrong move.

"What has happened to Cain? Who killed him?"

Marsh did not like this turn of events at all.. The more unclear the heir, the more unclear his duty.

Marsh smiled, so he did in fact have a knowledge of arms,

"Now, lets us go to the sparring field. I wish to know thy metal before we take the field."

Cain was assassinated...the Black Hands were pinned for what happened. But who else would want Cain dead to keep his power secure? William the Usurper.

Marsh hated this. Nothing was worse than the mire of civil war.

"I see... Where is the next legitimate heir?"

They took up some practice arms,

"Now, attack me, let us see how good thy strikes are."

Richard III...son of William the Traitor. However the other lords are not happy to have a traitor's son on the throne. He must either kill his father to prove his loyalty or he shall not sit upon the throne, as the lords have said.

    Then Lothair sighs.

On his deathbed...Richard I eliminated Richard III's succession by saying that any man who is to marry Matilda of England will be made King. A chaotic succession.

Indeed I am Warrick said with a sigh. Though I grow tired of the life, I'm not young anymore. Which is the reason for my visit actually. He paused for a moment before continuing.

I have recently made the decision to persue other ventures, more shall we say comfortable ventures, and this leaves me with an abundence on land and title no longer needed. I'm looking for Lords who wish to increase their standing considerably, for a sum of course... And well I thought of you.
