Thread: How to assign model as officer banner-bearer with MS3D

Default How to assign model as officer banner-bearer with MS3D

No mention of animation stuff, the featured banner being originally made by JoeDreck, a Deus Lo Vult famous modder, so its only question here of weights/assignation of vertices and other global considerations

    You need:
    Mesh to Ms3d Converter
    MS3D
One banner(like the ones from Deus Lo Vult or SS)
Your model of soldier(you're probably going for a Rusichi or BC model...)

1-Merge your model with the banner.
As you can see, the banner is not oriented like the weapons, so you have to rotate the left elbow and the left hand. Now your arm is really ugly, so frame your selection, and replace the points until to have a more "normal" looking arm.

2- Select the left arm(not the group! do it manually). Reason: the left Clavical shouldn't be changed.
    Select the Pole's groupe

Look at right, the categories(bone_Lupperarm and Lhand) and these numbers(92;2), make the same.
Now assign your selection(like in the screen) to Lupperarm. Normally it should blue, like in the first screen.
Do not deselect anything, and assign the weight(2nd screen: down right)

Coding of the officer(described a lot of time around here)

    going directly at the field

of course its possible to decapite an actual working bearer, and reskin it, add a completly different head...etc
That would prevent you against the "weight" nerve crisis

I have a question, I did what you said (I think)and managed to get the arm bent the way I'd like in game, but the attachments aren't showing up correctly for some reason, aka the flag is not showing up at all and the sword is showing up but it's texture is that of the banner, this is very odd since I'm sure I set the texture aspect correctly in milkshape.

Any idea what's up ? I'm pretty sure the comments are all correct, so is it something to do with the BMDB setting? right now this is mine

oh, so it's a texture issue... how do you change 512 textures into 1024 onces then?

    1) create a new file sized 1024 x 1024

    2) put your contents(what there are into your actual 512's texture) into this new file.

3 ) Back to MS3D, reassign correctly the banners/swords, you will need to scale theses elements, perhaps the elements will be out the canevas.

None from the existed ones ,iīve been changed vanilla to what i can and as i know ...and i would like to have at least one standart bearer ...tryed to add the ones from the dvl but the banner shows deformed and as iīm not good in modeling i give up ....when i saw your models i liked very much but has i suspected you shouldnīt share it with the people and i understand ,thatīs why i asked a simple one...but if you canīt its ok ,iīll keep waiting until i found one...but if you have one to share with us it will be a help for guys like me that canīt do the art of models as you do.regards

You need to take the animations file from DLV or SS, if you haven't did it:
    skeletons.idx
    skeletons.dat
    pack.idx
    pack.dat

Or to play directly these mods, both are goods, and their bearers working.

I think yes, that should work, eventually, you can back-up your vanilla animation folder

    Hi,
i have a problem with standard bearers in night battle. On night battles, torches are added in left hand of some men, and follow the animation of left hand. So for standard bearer, i see the wave effect on the torches.

    #Rhaymo,
You should only get a torch if the last line of the battlemodels entry is
    Code:
    16 -0.090000004 0 0 -0.34999999 0.80000001 0.60000002
If you use the mounts and officers line, there should never be a torch.
    Code:
    -1 0 0 0 0 0 0
