Wow love the ground in that top one, what are you using?
How do you mean?
We can rewrite the shaders for Warband, so I made a parallax mapping shader
We use Polished landscapes mod, wasn't sure.
This is great work. Are you releasing them OSP? I've been meaning to mess with the shaders for a while now. They're HLSL, right?

Ah yes, it's polished landscapes, though obviously I had to make a heightmap for the parallax stuff.
Yes, I will once I get the time to clean it up a bit. And yes they're HLSL, it's a bit tricky sometimes cause you're not exactly sure what input you get from the engine.
Yeah, I'd imagine. cmp might know better than us, what's referencing what.

For the coming patch, Vikingr 0.98, the cavalry mechanics have undergone a set of fundamental changes
that will require a way of playing that is completely different than before. A reckless cavalry charge does
now have true force and instead of just bumping into the infantry, a clash of horses and men may maim
both the mount and the unfortunate man under it, sending the rider himself to sway or even slip off the saddle.

To avoid the perils of close combat the norman knight wields a lance above his head, thrusting down at the enemy,
or holding it at arms length at his horses side to impale his target in full gallop. Yet he can not hope to break through
a firm shieldwall, with arrows and javelins hurled at his horse and with the longer spears of the infantry reaching out
for him.

But his lance is not just for thrusting, and using the speed of the horses and the cover of their high kite shields the norman
cavalry rushes towards the shieldwall, throwing their lances at the dense enemy ranks where each one finds its target,
be it a shield or the man holding it.After this volley the riders return to their fellow infantry where they are given a spear each,
so that they can continue the skirmishing until the clash of the shieldwalls.
When it was custom in older times to await the end of the battle and pursue the routed enemy, the Normans don't stand idly
but draw their swords and lift their lances on command of their Ber and charge the enemies flank to decide the battle.

After the previous patches have seen a lot of work done on first the Goídil and then the English, Rus and Normant it is finally time for an overhaul of the equipment of the Norðmenn. Much of it is still in the same state that it was released in first by dejawolf in his viking OSP and while it has done well ever since, much has changed in the game itself, in the looks, style and atmosphere.
For the next patch many of these pieces have been reworked and polished, with especially the helmet textures being redone and optimized to use less texture space at a higher resolution, with different mail and textile coif variations. A second line of axes has been added as well, based on petersen type shapes to expand the short-ranged axe selection for the Liði, while the longaxes receive a special damage bonus against horses.
The variety of shield patterns has been increased for both the Norðmenn and Normant, with whom they also share the new medium-tier padded armours. As all of the remaining kite shields of the old design are ported to the new layout and partially re-painted, the shield selection of the Norðmenn now features six rows with many new patterns.
