Default How to make a nation stop declaring war on you?

Ive played many nation. One thing that bugs me is that theres always a nation that goes to war with you know matter what. you cant stop them. Even if you force diplomacy to accept a truce or even ally with them, they still declare war on you in the next few turns. is there any way to make peace last longer than a few turns?

I don't think so unfortunately. If I recall it's something that is hard-coded, I couldn't tell you what though.

Isn't there an "Ally respects alliance" mod? I believe it's mod compatible.

You cant do anything. If you are near them, they will attack you all the time because the AI is stupid. Why the CA go to direction of making better AI for tw games instead of graphic...

    Alliance in RTW is meaningless.

yeah i hate the fact that once you go to war with someone, you pretty much have to eliminate all of their cities. im playing with pergamon now and at war with seleucia, i really dont want to stretch out my empire all the way to babylon.

P.S. i remember reading somewhere that if you give tribute of 500 the ai will remain allies. dont know if this was a Medieval II mod forum, however.

If you have a common border with a new faction or extend a common border then expect to go to war before too long.

I will sometimes 'prop up' a former enemy faction in order to keep it as a buffer between my empire and another - until I'm ready for all out war with them. I 'prop up' the enemy by gifting them money - after all if I am going to have over a certain amount in my treasury at the end of the turn it's going to be removed anyway.

The AI will go to war with you as they think this is the way to win the campaign - the AI is trying to do that as well.

Download a mod called Archaons loyal allies. It's on here somewhere. It adds a lot more strategy to alliances.

Once you have brought your enemy to his knees (destroying all armies and besieging his capital) use force diplomacy to demand he become your protectorate. Then you will have a safe and reliable ally on your border. In my experience the AI never breaks this arrangement

They usually break that arrangement as soon as any neutral faction attacks you.

Best and Only way I know to avoid being attacked (it works for real): You need to look STRONG.
If the AI thinks you are weak, they will attack. Be sure to have a garrison army at your border (make a fort), don't let anyone into your
    territory.

    This.

And you can create lawless border regions by sacking towns along your frontier and letting them fall to the rebels - I do this when I want to postpone a long war with a major faction.

I find that if you force another nation to be your ally and you pay them say 50 denar for 30 turns, the fact that the ally is constantly getting something from you ought of keep them happy, this works like 80% of the time for me, ive been embroiled in war with 2 or 3 nations and only come out the other side because of the allied stacks that were helping me, this is also useful if you just want to hold on a little longer and build up before you attack said nation.

forced diplomacy, or cheat to have 1000000 denarii, give them option to became your protectorate and give em dat one million denarii, don't worry, you'll get your money back next turn, and next turn the money cap will kick in

...you can script it as the basic...i done it yet but tried to advanced it and failed...but for the basic it works...just sometimes funny to see...in some cases you got peace for 2-3 years...like scripted without
any problem, but to script peace, to old enemies means, that in the ai turn they will first attack you..and to the end of the turn, they will be at peace again...problem is, that so often armys of them are hanging around in your lands...so to say the backside of the coin...

Scipted peace ala IB is possible, it just seems very adhoc in its implementation due to modding limits.
