Between this and the summary from the FAQ thread, I see where Joffrey gets his military strength. He can readily recruit large numbers of Gold Cloaks, so for his smaller population, he can field a massive army - and one that is actually trained and effective.

Also, nice touch on giving the Gold Cloaks the sigil of House Slynt.

And actually, i think only Slynt wears his sigil. The other Goldcloaks simply have a clasp to hold their cloak into place, but i can see why it could be mistaken for slynts coat of arms.

On the matter of effectiveness of Gold Cloaks.. Well it isn`t that simply. The seasoned Gold Cloaks, those Joffrey starts with, will have some points of experience and will be able to fight professional soldiers on even ground. But fresh Goldcloaks are different- You see, they are as well equipped as professional Soldiers and better trained than levies, but not as skilled as professional Men-at-Arms. They are something in between, well able to hold their ground as long as the battle is in their favor.. But as Tyrion pointed it out: Once they break, they break hard.

/Edit and please remember that the dirt texture as seen in the picture of the Gold Cloak lancers will be removed or rather replaced by an much better one.

Is it possible to give the Goldcloaks a bonus in keeping law and order when garrisoned? Like dragoons in E:TW I mean.

Although the Goldcloaks are listed under "Baratheon of Kings Landing", will any faction that controls Kings Landings be able to recruit Goldcloaks?

Yes; they're zonal AoR for KL

While true Hannibal, i think that the Gold cloaks will be recruitable by any faction that holds KL.
The household guard units wont be recruitable, as he said, though.
