    Having been away from Rome for the past several years serving the state, Aulus received a missive from the Senate upon his return. The issue: whether Tiberius Cotta should be voted quaestor suffectus. Though he knew of the Aurelii-Cottae, with his absence he was unsure of the man's political loyalties and ideals. And so, Aulus decided to play it safe and abstain. He made a mental note to update himself on the goings on of the city and its families.
