I remeber reading a long time ago about their being 5 or 7 ai behavioral programs, which I assume are hard coded. Virtually all mods I am aware of use "smith" or balanced approach but some of the others have preferences for war, or economy or population growth. Has anyone else heard of this, or am I thinking of something in a different game.

I don't know why is this happening to me but i always ply on VH/VH and in order to have some challenge out of the game after 60 turn i constantly have to support my potential enemies with money. 10k every turn sometimes more (depends on my budget) or my allies become too powerful and destroy them before i get the chance to fight them.

I'm trying to imagine some real-life example of that... it doens't really work

Maybe you should just start attacking you allies and have war witch everybody - that should keep the game hard

"If u know what u are doing u never lose a battle.Actually u should win with casualties below 10-15% in most cases.(evil-non human factions excluded)."

I think this, from Nemesis, explains the problem to me. I have fought campaigns where I never did lose more than about 15% of my force in battle. I know all the tricks to maximize production and taxes. And still, some factions can simply not win on vh/vh.

Rhun can field nearly a full stack for every province they own. I don't care how good you are, you simply cannot produce enough armies to cover everywhere that many stacks can attack and defeat that many armies. I've won two heroic victories against full stacks, retreated to replenish my troops, and then had that settlement besieged by two more stacks. And the ai is often perfectly willing to starve you out.

On the other hand, because of unbalanced campaign bonuses, some factions are ridiculously easy. Playing as Arnor/Eriador for example- destroying Gundabad is easy. Same goes for Rohan destroying Isengard. Or Harad destroying Gondor.

The problem is not that there are too many campaign bonuses, the problem is the campaign bonuses need to be significantly re-balanced.
