    Domus Calpurnii

Situated upon the Palatine hill the Domus of Marcus Calpurnius Bestia is an unassuming, quaint building. Being a man of stoic tastes it is inhabited by only a few slaves and the family that own the domus. The family is one of deep piety; Marcus himself having been in the College of Augurs from a young age. He has a firm grasp of the signs that the gods can send and takes time to decipher their meanings holding the belief that he is the foremost authority on interpretio in the state at the current time. He sacrifices daily to the Lares of his own house and is content with the life that he leads. Outwardly he is unambitious, some would say aloof, yet the Calpurnii have risen over the years from the lower depths of the Roman people. While not yet holding major office politically the time may now be coming where they shall play a greater part in the running of Rome and if Marcus were to have his way Rome would never again leave the favour of the gods. He is prudent in his choice of friends and wary of the plotting and machinations that many senators entertain outside of the gaze of their fellows. His guard shall not fall easily to any man.

A messenger arrived at the Domus of Plebeian Senator Marcus Calpurnius Bestia requesting his presence at the Domus of Faustus Naevius Diocletianus.
