Thread: Problem with sound files

  1. #1

    Icon4 Problem with sound files

It's not a big problem but it very irksome.

Some sound files are not properly implanted for units.
For example I clicked on Brunswick Infantry and they said "Light Horse Artillery!"

I don't have extra unit packs on because some units don't have names and it annoys me. Dunno if that makes a difference for sound.

Is there a way to fix this? If some let me know because it kinda ruins some of the immersion I get from playing.

Besides from this small gripe, great mod so far guys!

I think this is a vanilla ntw problem, you can also try clicking on elite british foot guards and they say "revolutionary guard" heavens knows what CA were thinking and they dont even bother to fix it.

I don't think I had this problem before I installed DarthMod.

I have heard this before, although never noticed it. Maybe some voice sound files of the extra units are mixed or simply some unit files are not read correctly.
You hear these sounds from regular units of vanilla or from the extra?

    EDIT:
Ah sorry, you said you do not use extra units. OK, I shall rename the file and that will fix the problem.

I've heard this was due to the extra units included in the mod. I'm not 100% sure though.

I still have the same problem: is your problem resolved? So
is it perhaps because I have some other mod which is causing this?
Please help, this is spoiling a great mod for me.

There is a mod by hguderian called NO MORE FOOLISH VOICES in Nap visuals & audio which "points the way" to aum modders. It removes units announcing themselves full stop but is far less annoying than the alternative. It worked well for me in the configured British & French campaigns used in conjunction with GEORIDERS add on units ( some of the prettiest & historically accurate ones i've seen - no hordes of overmuscled swiss mercenaries anywhere ).

Agreed and no its not resolved. I'm just happy for the explanation from Darth himself.

Kaybe, this mod removes the unit sound files?

    DPR,
This mod replaces only the unit responses with a blank or a generic reply (SIR!). I can only say that for me it removed the irritating responses that sometimes occur in vanilla & proliferate in aum's that ruin them for me (& many others). In fact I preferred the lack of pompous announcements.

It works, which is fantastic, but very unfortunately not with this Mod.

I have found that it works if you start the game through Mod Manager rather than through the Darth Mod icon.

I have this issue as well. Among other things, British rifle units answer 'spears' (I didn't even know there were pikeman in N:TW!). It would be good if this could be resolved without third party software, or should I just use Mod Manager?
