    Default easy starting nation?

which nation is a good "to learn" nation? played vanilla a lot but never a mod. denmark? first thing would of course go against norway. seems to be a good choice.

oh and how hard is the "very hard" setting? I am playing on the medium aggressive AI, but I was wondering how much the AI would put up a fight in battle and on the campaign map

on medium the AI can put up a decent fight with Savage AI. Medium is always a good starting point and then increase it from there.

England is always a good starter nation. Denmark and Norway as well are good.

oh I will only play early campaign. I hate the early gun powder years. dont ask me why, thats why I hated ETW. its just not my style, this mix of gunpowder with close combat. dont like it at all

England is relatively easy. Avoid Sicily and Portugal like the Plague...

England as mentioned above for several important reasons.

    1. Your on a Island with one other faction therefore minimal risk of invasion
    2. Easy style of play, just grab 7 longbow units and let them come to you.
    3. Strong economy
    4. Along with France extremely strong in the late game with very good units.
    5. Can mess around a bit with crusades.
    6. Can afford to make mistakes.

england does get boring after a while and once you decide to go into france it brings back vannila nostalgia whether thats good or bad for you, and you can always change it so gunpowder never comes into existance so you can play late campagin how you wish with no weak nations, wooden castles, small towns etc.

England can get boring, but it's still a good choice to learn the ropes.
