Thread: Column vs Line

    Default Column vs Line

Historically, using deep columns was useful in battles since they could push through lines and did well in melee. However in vanilla NTW this isnt the case. Columns just reduce how many men that can fire and dont increase melee stats.

Is this something that could be implemented?

I may be wrong, but I don't think changing melee stats by how small the rank is even possible.

If thats not possible then perhaps it'd have to be a formation button like forming a square.

Also not possible, because that would remove square as an avaliable formation for infantry troops. Besides it is impossible to change the hard-coding of the game.

Columns dont work unfortunately...all that happens is your units shoot your own units in the back! Sure you can hit 'T' to stop that, but seriously, with 40xunits can you really remeber which ones you set for melee' only'.

If they could stop the back stabbing it would be great!!
