Splash Screen Help

purchased the game via amazon and just received it when the game came out. I installed it and go to play...

I get to the load up screen and then it blacks out and goes to the desktop. I can't even get into the game. Can anyone help me? I suck with computers and I've been trying to read other posts as what to too. I've had no problems with Empire, Napoleon, or Shogun. Please help! I haven't been able to play Shogun for months now!

Do you have Chrome installed on your computer?
Which drive is Steam on?
Which drive is your swapfile on?

Try updating your motherboard drivers at www.intel.com.
Try updating your graphics drivers at www.amd.com.
Set your DPI setting back to 96DPI (100%).
Run Microsoft Update and install all software options.

What is swapfile?

How do I set DPI back to 100%?

I will update the mother drivers and graphic drivers now! Thanks for the response!

Ok! So I have tried to update (no new updates) and I set DPI to 100%. I tried to start the game up and I still get the splash screen. Also, Chrome is NOT installed on my laptop. Any ideas?

http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/definition/swap-file is one source.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paging for another source.

You don't have enough room on C: or D: drive for this game to have one. It's taking about 20gb on a good day and over 30 for stability.

Could be the only reason but you never know.

Run Windows Update, yet? Autoupdater is a piece of crap.

swapfile is on my C. Steam is installed on my D drive.

I'm just unsure of what to do.

I ran the windows update. It updated with something. I tried the game and it refuses to go.

In the box above the Start button, type page file.

Follow the instructions and you will get to the pages in the pic.

In the last one, you can pick a drive and how big a swapfile.

So I got to the same point you posted. I don't understand what to do from here? What was the point? Sorry for my lack of computer skills.

When you get to the page I posted in the pic, pick F: and set it for 4096. This should get you the room you need unless CA's version so old it's on C: drive anyway.

How do I set it to 4096? Just type that in on the "maximum size"? Are you saying this opens up more room and might be able to run the game? Thanks for helping me!

In initial size I put 4096. In the max size I put 4096. I will try and see if it works!

Post your awesomium.log. You can open it in Notepad.

Post your gfx.log.txt if it generated one.

Have you tried updating Adobe Flash?

Do you have any resources or can you explain a bit better on how to post awesomium.log? Or where to find it? I updated adobe flash the other day. Do you live within the USA? Perhaps it would work better if I gave you a call?

awesomium.log = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2.

Right-click the file, click open with..., click Notepad, Okay. Then just copy/paste the contents in your next post.
