Default MOD LEADERS BULLETIN-EDITION I: How things are going right now

    Ok folks,
I just thought I'd update you on how the mod is progressing. In the last couple of days we have started to put new weapons into the game. By that I mean the Martini-Henry Rifle, the Martini-Henry Carbine, and others including the Chassepot, Dreyse Needle Gun, Snider-Enfield and more.
This seems a good time to tell you about the structure we are going to have with regards to the infantry weapons used in the mod. They are going to be divided into three "eras" (essentially the same as the RTW Marian Reforms, except in this mod it will be decided by technological advancement and building level). The first era includes weapons like the Chassepot, Dreyse and Snider-Enfield, the second ones like the Martini Henry, Mauser 1871 and Gras, and the third modern bolt action rifles such as the .303 Magazine Lee-Enfield and the M1903 Springfield. As you advance up the tech tree, the new eras are unlocked, and old units become obselete and new ones with new weapons will have to be trained if you want to remain at the forefront of military technology. In many cases countries actually used way more than 3 generations of weapons in this era, but if we truely represented that, the limitations of the game would make gameplay very poor indeed.
Of course, we've not got too far on that front yet, and all the weapons currently look like muskets because we haven't yet got new models, but the foundation has been laid.
On a realism note, we have had to dumb down the ranges of these weapons from the historical value so that we don't get rediculously long range firefights on the battlefield. Taking the example of the Chassepot, it would quite happily be able to fire pretty much across the ENTIRE battlefield if we let it have its full historical effective range. The ranges will still be significantly larger than the Vanilla and DarthMod ranges however.

In other news, we've also started moving forward again with the Startpos, and are currently fixing the issues that ForteS did not have time to deal with. Some new signatures are also being worked on, to replace those from when we were still a sub-mod for DMUC.

I'm currently reviewing what we already have in other areas of the mod, but nothing on that front is finalised yet. I will publish more details once those sections are properly underway again.

    Thank you.

I've deleted your last post since it seems pointless to have two posts saying the same thing, but thats fine.

This sounds amazing, can't wait for the first release of this mod, it sounds so incredible, and even still can't wait for the final release, which is a shame because a final will be so long away. but still, great work.

It's good to hear that the progress is made behind the scenes and without publicity, the mod is well on its track it seems. Keep it up!

    Thanks for the comments guys.

There will be some Canadian units, but since Canada is an emergent faction, its at the very bottom of the list and so not a priority.

This isn't really the place to ask that-you would be better off looking in the mod workshop. The only things we are doing is changing which factions are where etc, not adding regions and the like. We won't be doing anything revolutionary with the map unless someone more skilled with it than any of us manages to unlock it.

Just wanna let you know still. Even though I hardly ever post. This is still my top most anticipated mod for any Total War game.
