Default NASA: Strange and mysterious organic molecules discovered on Pluto

    Link

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has reportedly discovered evidence of complex organic compounds on the surface of Pluto.
The ultraviolet-absorbing chemical species may have been produced when sunlight or super-speedy subatomic particles known as cosmic rays interacted with these ices, researchers said.

Last thing I could think of...

    Life on Pluto.

I would like more than one link, please.

Wrong Board though, better off in the Athenaeum.

It's the remnants of an Asari ship that tried to get into the system through the Charon Relay.

    Or just some little microorganisms.

Read the article. JUst because a substance is organic doesn't mean it has anything what-so-ever to do with life.

What NASA is saying, is that there are various types of hydrocarbons on Pluto which can emit ultra-violet light. Ie that's what gives Pluto a nice purple-red colour.

I read somewhere else that it is also taking some sort of 'stepping stones to life.'

How is life suppose to evolve on the ice planet?

Like this, anyway i doubt its anything to be too excited about no advanced life could survive out that far from the sun...unless its frozen on the surface
I suppose i should have some sort of sig here.

Well your not going to get advanced forms of life like Humans, deer, elephants, etc etc. But you may find bacteria sort of organisms in the oceans of Pluto, and if we are really lucky we will find fish like creatures if life has evolved to that point.

Well it means the three elements most required for life as we know it, carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, are on Pluto. But they're everywhere.

Jupiter's moon Titan has an entire sea of hydrocarbons and apart from being a great source of oil for us here on Earth, there may potentially be some kind of life under that.

Yes, but if its life, at least we aren't 'alone.'

    Yes I know.

When the human race goes to space, Titan will be pumped out for everything its worth, and will end up exactly like Earth at that point. Empty of resources.

I wonder, if due to its crazy orbit, its close and distant proximity to the sun is enough to mix up and create some sort of weather on the planet that can lead to more advanced chemical structures. Much like there's a theory that the close proximity of the moon in Earths early development ,and the increased tidal forces this created, were a major factor in life forming on Earth.

Closest thing I can think of is like Pitch Black, where the suns align every so often and those darkness falls allowing things to spring to life. Yadda yadda.
