TotW 264 Wizard School is now up. I'm sorry for the delay... I forgot that we are using Caligula's new system. (Or rather, I wanted do do it a few hours after posting the voting thread but then forgot to do it.)

theSilentKiller is co-ordinator for Tale of the Week. This doesn't mean that he has to run every Tale of the Week competition; it does mean that he is the member of Writers' Study staff who is most directly involved with running this competition. In that sense, theSilentKiller is the head of Tale of the Week. I'm the director for the Writers' Study and the Critic's Quill. This means that I'm the team leader for Writers' Study and Critic's Quill staff. I therefore have overall responsibility for Writers' Study competitions.

Also, did we all forget about Tale of the Week 264?

Writers' Study staff are volunteers, we do this in our spare time; sometimes it takes a few days before the relevant staff member has time to post a competition. As you know (since you have entered), Tale of the Week 264 is available for entrants, it's good to see that we have two submissions already and I look forward to seeing more.

Since Shankbot's entry for TotW 264 has not yet materialised (although we hope it will appear in due course), we have only one entry so far. Congratulations to Caligula for being the only entrant at this point.

You therefore have an extra week to polish those brief but beautiful masterpieces - the submission period will continue until Saturday 12th August.

Caligula, my friend, your efforts are not wasted. They are there on the submissions thread for anyone who doesn't plan to enter to read and suffer appreciate. And there's still plenty of opportunity for people to join you at Wizard School, so that we can all have the chance to vote for your font-mangling entry. Or against, depending on how much we feel it damaged our eyesight.

So, after a long delay TotW will proceed as usual. I've extended the submission period for TotW 264: Wizard School for one more week, and I hope we'll get enough entries to run it. But considering that the submission period for this TotW has been exceptionally longer than usual, I'm not entirely sure if extending the submission period further than this one week makes sense.
Anyway, if we get enough submissions, TotW will proceed as usual.

Just give me the first place prize. My piece is the next Great American novel. The fact that it was written by an Australian and is 500 words or so is mere semantics.

Tell you what, Caligula; if we don't have enough entries to run the contest by the time tSK decides to give up waiting AND your piece has won a Pulitzer* by then, I'll make an official proposal to the WS staff that we 'just give you the first place prize'. I think that's fair.

*Of course, only American authors are eligible in the fiction category (which I'm assuming this is). So you might need to work on becoming a US citizen.

Haven't been around for some time and I was surprised to see the Wizard TotW is still on. I propose the TwCenter give Caligula some kind of "Patience Award" or, at the very least, +rep him guys for his long wait.

As we have only two entries - so far - for TotW 265: Mud and Blood, the submission period has been extended for a week. You have until Sunday 17th September to submit those masterpieces; let's give Rex Anglorvm and mad orc the high quality competition I know they'll be expecting!
