Mod description.
Important note about CTD in BETA I: There is a problem with these two French units Chevaux-légers . 1800 and Chevaux-légers lanciers. 1800 EM in BETA I. Some files of the officer model are missing so it causes crash to desktop. Please when playing with France avoid this units and delete the ones you have in the initial moment of the game. This has already been fixed for BETA II. Thanks to jeffadkins51 for pointing the existence of a problem with France battles.
Well to start with I want to say that this is a mod where the words Empire Total War have a gameplay meaning. And you will understand as you read this description.
The mod is designed to extend the game period into the Napoleonic times. And it will have two main campaigns, really it will be two mods, the 1700-1800 campaign and the 1800 campaign.
As you may imagine the 1700-1800 is the original game starting, but once you reach the mod created military and social technologies you get into the Napoleonic times being able to recruit many of the units of the period and benefit from social changes.
1800 campaign will start in the Napoleonic times, so you won’t need to go through all the XVIII century. Factions will start with the technology tree researched to the techs that are appropriate for the time and the adequate buildings too.
In both campaigns, there will be technologies and building systems that allow you to recruit new unit roster what means that they will have different uniforms and in some cases different combat stats.
In French case this is that once you reach the Napoleonic period by researching the technology called the National Army and creating the adequate buildings ( in 1800 campaign they will be researched and constructed from the beginning), you start with late Republic - Early Empire uniforms (wearing bicorn as characteristic uniform feature) In what building is about the National Army tech will allow France to recruit a varied set of units infantry, artillery, and cavalry, 3 per turn, in all its homeland provinces, no mater the civil or military governor building, and this is an important advantage as it can be seen later. Also you will gain strategy movement extra points. Once you research the Imperial Army technology you will be able to recruit late Empire units uniforms (wearing shakos as characteristic uniform feature). But to get into Imperial Army technology you have to research previously the Empire social technology which will increase the happiness of the high classes and also, but not so much, the lower classes. This one will also allow you to recruit the Emperor unit and some of the guard units, like Guard Marines, and also you will gain campaign movement extra points.
In Austrian case once you research the Coalition military technology you get into the Napoleonic times ( many infantry units wear a helmet). In this case the faction has a new unit roster, but it really does not get any military advantage in what building recruitment, so civil governors buildings will only recruit infantry units and just one per turn in the homeland. Historically the Coalitions members not only changed the uniforms but they also changed the strategy to confront the French forces, from recruitment to combat tactics, so they went from Ancient Regime armies systems to more modern and Napoleonic like military organization and mobilization. To resemble this into the mod I have created the Total War social technology. Many nations, including the Coalition ones due to previous revolutionary ideas started to be conscious of their own existence so what happened to the country was not only a matter of the crown but of all the population, so this led to the governments to be able to call up to a mobilization of the nation into the Total War that was needed to defeat Napoleon. So once you research this social technology, which increases lower class happiness, you will be able to research the Total War Army technology and this will mean that you will have the same recruitment advantages that France has, new unit roster (shakos instead of helmets), some improved military abilities of the units and also the same campaign movement extra points that France had gained with her own technologies.
Homeland recruitment. This feature means that factions will be able to recruit their units only in “homeland” provinces not in conquered ones. In conquered ones there will be able to recruit only some local units. Homeland is not that France, for example, can only recruit in France province, but there and all French historical colonies and some European territories like Belgium or Corsica.
All infantry and cavalry units have 400 men and artillery has 36 men, this in unit ultra size in graphic settings.
All factions, at least European and American (but tribes) ones, will be worked out to make them have the Napoleonic period gameplay.
Also the naval game has changed based on my previous naval mods for Empire and Napoleon Total War, so battle, which includes textures and damage improvement, faction marines, and naval campaign have been very much changed.
Technologies Icons.
These are the icons of the new technologies for the mod in the 1700-1800 campaign.
In the first row you have coalition factions technologies icons, which are Coalition Army (military tech), Total War (social tech), Total War Army (military tech).
Coalition Army needs Citizenship (social tech) to be researched. Total War needs Citizenship (social tech) to be researched, and Total War Army needs the two new previous ones.
In the second row you have French faction technologies icons, which are National Army (military tech), Empire (social tech), Imperial Army (military tech).
National Army needs Citizenship (social tech) to be researched. Empire needs Citizenship (social tech) to be researched, and Imperial Army needs the two new previous ones.
Beta I description.
This beta is 1700-1800 campaign. But it is prepared to play with France or Austria with all the technology tree researched but the two last 1800 mod technologies so you will start playing with the first Napoleonic unit roster and buildings. This way you do not have to play all the century to get into the mod main features.
I added naval recruitment limits to promote the recruitment of the middle ship classes which means the third and fourth rates. This is not definitive, just to test how AI recruits.
If you play any of the other factions they will have half of the military tree researched so they are not so in disadvantage compared to France and Austria.
Maratha Confederacy and Mughal Empire won’t be able to recruit any naval as I do not find any other way for them not to end conquering lands like Portugal or Cuba by naval invasion too frequently. But in compensation their homeland is a whole subcontinent.
The campaign movement in land has been very much reduced with the intention to give more strategic meaning to the map. This is not definitive at least in the level it has been done.
France may not be very active in what recruitment in France it self is about, probably due to the extension of the empire in America that needs to be defended and built. In 1800 campaign only Louisiana, Guayana and some Caribean Island will remain so I expect the French AI to be much more active in Europe. Also in 1800 Belgium, Piedmont and Corsica will be added to the French Empire so this faction will be enforced by this way in Europe.
The recruitment in foreign lands of foreign units has not been worked yet, this will be added in later betas as more factions are developed.
Campaign difficulties have not been balanced yet.
Next Beta will be about USA and British factions, so then there will be the 1700-1800 and the 1800 campaigns separately.
I hope you like it so far.

Instalation instructions and use.
Once you have dowloaded and you have opened the folder you will see another two folders and three files.
B1800 folder copy this one and paste it in :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data\campaigns
1800 BETA I 001, 1800 colours, 1800LOC copy and paste them in :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data
ModManager_1-5, if you haven't got any version of this program copy and paste it wherever you like it in your computer.
If you have patch_en file, or any other language file, in your data folder, backup it remove it from you data folder as it can cause ctd with 1800LOC.
To use it just run ModManager_1-5, place 1800colours higher that 1800 BETA I in the mod list, check them and press launch button.
AND FOR THE NEXT BETA, I have been preparing the maps for the 1800 campaign so here there are the American and European ones:
In America USA are playable, Britain keeps the north, France has Lousiana. The rest is the same. In Europe, France is much more extended, to Belgium, Piedmont, Corsica. Spain has lost all her possesions out of the Iberian Peninsula. Prussia is bigger as has taken Silesia from Austria and Pomerania and Poland. Austria has Venice and Galitzia. Russia has extended to the north west and south. And in Italy there is the Italy state in Milan, Sardinia is independent and Naples-Sicily too. This is not in actual Beta but will be for the next one.
