Default Questions about garrison strength and income...

Just trying to find a few answers here to make the most income in my campaign.

First, does anyone know whether you make more money overall by keeping enough troops in a settlement to keep taxes 'very high' or maybe use a single unit or one governor in a settlement and have taxes set only as high as you can get with that single unit?

Second, I remember hearing about some penalties on governor traits that correspond to the tax levels. Is that something that has been removed in XGM or is it still in? And if it is still incorporated then is the penalty for keeping the taxes lower or is it only when the taxes are actually not set as high as they could be and still keep the citizens from rioting?

    Thanks!
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Obviously it will depend on the infrastructure of your economy, but it is quite simple to check each one.

Get the unit cost of the extra troops being used to garrison the city. See how much income is increased by raising taxes. If the cost is greater than the income, it's not worth it.

Note that a decrease in population will also decreases income from taxes (although for a decent size city it won't have too much of an effect) so if they're the same, depending on when you checked tax increase, it's better to go with the smaller garrison.
