    Default 18th Century Hats

    Wasn't sure where to put this...

    But I was wondering what the British Army's procedure was in making their soldier's hats. I have a pretty large head (not nearly as big a some others) and has problems buying hats from local stores. What would the case be for a soldier of the time? Where they measured for the hat?

    Hats were made primarily in three sizes. Unlike hats of today, which have an oval shape, hats in the 18th century were made on a round block. They were stretched and steamed to fit.
