I think it's the unit size script. At least, there's a similar problem in VII, and I've been pointed to it.

Well I'm currently recoding the unit size script. It's rather antique - the game should really just register it as a pile of garbage, because none of the characters and none of the settlements in it are actually in the game!
The 4tpy script seems to start with every faction for me.

Ok, it's fixed now, I'm preparing the files for uploading. I fixed the "ghost" as well, btw - it was because the game doesn't like tabs in certain files.

Sorry, me again. Getting CTD on campaign map apparently randomly when selecting a polis
After a little investigating with a Roma campaign on M/M, no advice, manage all settlements, follow AI characters, I discovered that I get a CTD each time I click on the Settlement Details button for Ariminum, Paestum, Rhegium and Bovianum. I get no CTD clicking Settlement Details for Roma, Capua, Arretium and Tarantum.
This was done using patch 2 and without altering any of your files.
Also, I played one Roman campaign through Autumn of 265 BCE with slightly altered EDB and EDU and descr_strat files. I captured Messina and Genua and I get CTD from clicking Settlement Details for both of those cities as well.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this mod. I can't wait for a final version.

Upon further review, it seems that cities with a negative "base farm level" (per descr_regions.txt file) seem to crash when you click on settlement details, while those with a base farm level of zero and above don't suffer the settlement details CTD. I've so far checked about 10 cities in Asia Minor, Egypt and Spain in addition to the ones I mentioned above.
Okay, I just checked four other mods I have (EB, XC, RTRVII, ExRM) and none of them seem to have any regions with negative base farming.
I think negative base farm levels may be a problem.
I edited the file, adjusting all negative base farm levels to zero, and the CTDs went away. It is not save game compatible, though, so I must go forth once again from the beginning!
Thanks Ballpoint! I was quite puzzled about those CTDs. I suspected they had something to do with the government buildings - I don't think I would have come up with that. I'll sort out a fix for that.

On campaign map! It freezes and then CTDs randomly on certain settlements

I've been unable to trigger the CTD in a short testing period, but that doesn't mean it is definitely fixed. I did select all sorts of settlements, though. Have you seen any sort of pattern to it?
