Wait for a few months for any really complete modifications to start appearing.

Are there any mods that prevents swinging your sword or blocking from slowing you down?

    Looks good, going to download.

Midas Magic is already in development for Skyrim, there's a pre-release available:

The 'block runner' perk allows you to run while blocking. It's quite high up the tree though.

I don't know about swinging the weapon.

For those looking for more weapons keep an eye on this (in Alpha now):

    http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3871

The mod adds over 50 new weapons (not re-textures) that have a Morrowind style to them (which is justified by the creators).

So, I'm going to get this for PC soon.

What all mods are out already?

Phier mentioned one that made the battles larger.

Don't crucify me for asking this but how does the improved UI mod handle if you're using a gamepad? If anyone knows that is...

I've been using a 360 controller for my PC version and while the UI hasn't been absolutely terrible with it I would appreciate a different kind.

There's literally hundreds if not thousands by now...and the Creation Kit hasn't even been released yet. Most though are mods that enhance the NPC, item, and environment visuals but there are plenty out there that tweak things and add additional content as well.

Weapons that don't look like would be a nice place to start.

Yeah I got that one and JaySuS Swords

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1002 (they aren't as dark as his screenshots make it look, I had that concern before I downloaded but they look more steel colored in game)

Only problem I have with these mods, only a few axes and no maces! It's effing sword overload up in here, I want some new weapons for my mace wielding paladin!

    Question on Jaysus Swords mod.

    usage:

add the following line to your skyrimprefs.ini under [Launcher]:

    bEnableFileSelection=1

select the JSwords.esp in your Skyrim Launcher under "Data Files"
Do you have to select it under data files just once, or everytime you start the game?

I like the old school stuff.

Swords and stuff just looked too damn ridiculous before.

What are the minimum requirements for the PC by the way?

Does anyone know if there are any mods out there that make combat more gritty/enjoyable/epic?

Such as giving arrows more "weight" and letting them push back/throw people upon impact? Or making sword fighting cooler and less of a "I hit you with my stick/sword repeatedly till you die"?

    Try this:

    http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3646

P.S. Please post how it went I'm reluctant to test it.
