Default switch player faction? Scots units in middle east?

    Hello

    Double question:

Is there a way to switch playable faction during a campaign? I've captured Jerusalem and the holy lands with Scotland (and abandoned britain) and want to see how they fare without my control.

Slight side question - it seems I can only build some scottish units. No pikemen, nobles etc. Thought this was because I had Middle Eastern barracks but even if I knock em down and rebuild I still only get the option of Middle Eastern infantry.

Just thought it would be cool to see how th scottish do against the Mongols when they arrive...

Most of the Scottish units are AoR units, i.e. they are only available in Scotland.
This unfortunately means you can`t recruit Scottish Pikemen in the Middle East.

Changing playable faction is only possible in a hotseat campaign.
Usually you click at Singleplayer=>New Campaign
    This you can find Multiplayer=>Hotseat

But you will have to modify a cfg file (to enable battles... i forgot its name), search the forum for "hotseat autoresolve". Somewhere here is an cfg file that you could copy over yours...
The units problem will be solved after the population got forced to believe IN THE ONE AND ONLY GOD...
Edit: did not knew about the AreaOfRecruitment... this sucks!!

Actually that is one of the things I really like about SS. It makes no sense, whatsoever that in Medieval times faction rulers would be recruiting troops that are tied to a certain region.

    Idea!
You can easily change that. It is even savegame compatible.
Adding units is very easy! check export_desc_units.txt for the exact unitīs names and add it to export_desc_buildings.txt!
These files are self explaining! Make a backup and check some tutorials if you dont get it at once!

On your second question. Are you playing with BGR or with rr.If you play with RR there are some units that are area restricted. If you want to be able to recruit these area restricted units do this and you ll recruit them even in ME.Go to the data folder double click export_descr_buildings and find lines such as these:

    recruit_pool "Highlanders" 1 0.5 3 0 requires factions { scotland, } and hidden_resource scotland and not event_counter new_era_begins 1

and just erase the text in bold. This line says that highlanders have a refill pool of 0,5 and to be able to build them you need to be in Scotland and not to have experienced the new era begins event

If you also have BGR enabled check the bgr manual

p.s You don't have to demolish enemy's building you can use them as if they were your own from start
